COntacting Dreamworks by Email

As a PS3 owner I would like to buy some more films - I had stopped DVD purchasing until now, but some films I want are from Dreamworks

I can obtain and convert to a format the PS3 will play or I can hassle Dreamworks to release them.

However I cannot get hold of Dreamworks email address

Thanks

Re: COntacting Dreamworks by Email

A letter is more likely to be effective anyway. Even though mail gets sorted to prevent chaff going to execs it will go in someones (possibly the EAs) reading file which can, if not influence decisions, at least raise an issue in the Office.

However I would humbly suggest that writing to any studio on this matter is somewhat fruitless. Not unless you enclose cheques in the region of US$150+ that is

Re: COntacting Dreamworks by Email

Oh well if they WANT to encourage obtaining so be it but I like owning original films - this is why I have too many DVDs.

Just because my new BD player can play back media from USB hard drives.

I think Dreamworks are throwing away a lot of business.

I will write pointing out the error of their ways and how easy it is to get hold of material the best selling BD player can handle.

Please note mods I am not advocating piracy or planning on doing it but it is very easy if you have a PS3 and want to watch HiDef films not available on BluRay.

I will write to them on Monday

If I get an answer I will put it on here.

There are 2 or 3 exclusives on HDDVD I would have if they were on BluRay

Re: COntacting Dreamworks by Email

Just out of interest do you plan to write to Microsoft and complain about the 360 exclusive games you cannot play on your console?

No I don't.

But why should I have to buy two disc players for HiDef - I have one - the one which is selling better as well - the one supported by more big Japanese companies.

I'm still going to write to them and see what happens.

Oh and converting a game is a lot harder than producing on more than one disc format

Why not - or why not do both formats

Re: COntacting Dreamworks by Email

I'm going to write a few letters and get that third world debt cancelled and them to stop burning fossil fuels!

I really don't think 1 letter, a hundred letters or several thousand letters will make a difference.

Are you really going to waste your time on issues like that when we can campaign for films to released on varying formats - come on

So you bought into a format war knowing it was going on but now want to end it with a letter.

It reminds me of the Peter Cook and Dudley Moore sketch.

(from the Peche à la Frog sketch, with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore

Sir Arthur Strieb-Griebling (Peter Cook): I believe it was shortly after World War Two. Do you remember that, the Second World War?
Interviewer: Certainly, yes.
S-G: Ghastly business.
I: Oh yes.
S-G: Absolutely ghastly business.
I: Yes, indeed¦
S-G: I was completely against it.
I: Well, I think we all were.
S-G: Ah yes, but I wrote a letter.

One of the reasons given for the lack of AAA titles is that there userbase isn't big enough to exploit, Dreamworks when they finally release Blu-ray titles again will be doing so to a much bigger more profitable market including quite a chunk of double dippers from the HD DVD side and I don't expect disk prices to be any lower.

If you look at the number of BOGOF and 3 for 2 deals for Blu-ray then there is certainly a indication that if you can avoid releasing titles early you would end up with far more revenue per disk at a later date when the initial full price products are launched.
