I've just got to sing the praises of.......

Surf's Up!!!!!

Watched it on Blu Ray last night and was thoroughly impressed!!

I was always ranting on about how much better PQ my HD-E1 produces over my PS3 but for the first time last night I was proven wrong.

Granted, it's CG but the PQ on Surf's Up for me was the best HD I have seen yet, REALLY impressed. Colours were fantastic; details were sharp and the film was good too!!

Also as a disc it ticked all the right boxes for me.

1 Reasonably priced - I paid £19 from Woolies in the high street, and for a high street price I didn't find that TOO steep.

2, All regions (A,B,C) so can be played on any player (which I’m a BIG fan of - owning a US PS3)

3, Film was great with some actual laugh out loud moments for me - it was the attention to detail going on around the actual characters that did it.

All in all I would firmly recommend it to anyone wanting a good family film, chuckles along the way and a bit more adult humour than most animated films.
And anyone wishing to show of their new fancy HD tellies!!

Thumbs up from me!

Re: I've just got to sing the praises of.......

Digital films have an advantage as the technology has probably stayed digital from start to finish. I used to think 'Happy Feet' was the best I've seen but now I think 'Shrek 3' edges it. 'Shrek 3' now seems to have 'better hair animation'. Up close I can see better individual hairs than I could up close on 'Happy Feet'. I watched both over New Year one after the other.

Re: I've just got to sing the praises of.......

I bought this over Christmas on Play's 3 for 2 offer but haven't watched it yet. I have, however, watched Meet The Robinsons which I enjoyed far more than a lot of reviews suggested I would. It wasn't quite up to the standards of Pixar's work but Disney have created something that is certainly a lot better than many of the CG offerings from other studios.

Also, I found the PQ of Meet The Robinsons to be excellent though it's not the best CG animation to demo your kit as the art style doesn't feature a great amount of detail. I'm waiting for Finding Nemo to hit Blu-ray as you can practically guarantee that will see jaws hitting the floor what with it being, in my opinion, the most visually impressive CG animation to date.

Yea - i havent watched meet the Robinsons on the back of the bad reviews.

I should ignore them really as there has been countless films i have enjoyed when the reviews say otherwise.

I'm presuming the style is similar to the incredibles, good PQ but not the "real life" look like Nemo.

Roll on Nemo on Blu Ray!!!!

Aparently Cars is another to check out!

Not having a PS3 or a HD-DVD from my 360 but upscaling my DVD's through HDMI on my DVD player Cars has the edge for me and I would love to see it on Blu-ray too see what is improved.
Nemo is great as well but I think they had something special in cars.

it was supposed to have the grain in it. it was replicating a "fly on the wall" documentury so there are certain parts in the film which were intended to be like that-dont worry,u havent got a duff copy!
