Blu-ray noob question

Im going to New York next month and i want to know if i buy any blu-ray dvds over there will they work on my english ps3?

My normal dvd player is region free so im right in saying they will play any dvds ?

Not all of them will. If you look on the back of the box most list the region code, it will be A, B or C. Uk blu-ray players are region B. USA players are region A.

alot of USA blu-rays are released multi region i.e they will have region codes A. B and C, so will play in any player.
