Blu-ray UK/US picture differences compared with DVD

I'm not sure of the best place to ask this question, but this particular forum seems a reasonable place to start.

I always assumed that PAL DVD's had a slightly better picture than NTSC ones due to the difference in resolution (PAL 576 vs NTSC 480) and therefore was always under the impression that quality of authoring being equal, a region 2 DVD looked better than an Region 1 DVD.

Now with regards to Blu-ray discs, although we still have different regions on discs (A & B, though many Blu-ray's still seem to be region-free) am I correct in assuming that since they are all using 1080p resolution that there can now be NO difference between the picture quality?

Confirmation willingly recieved

Correct. The PQ will be identical regardless of where in the world they originate.
NTSC & PAL standards dont apply.
I'm only aware of 1 release thats been mastered slightly differently between US & UK markets
