Harry Potter HD DVD giftset

Hi all,

Just wanted to share, got my HD DVD Harry Potter Giftset (all 5 movies) and skipped through them briefly last night - the sound and picture quality on all of them are very good - a definite improvement over SD, and the latest one (Order of the Phoenix - which I had to be careful what I watched as I haven't seen the last two) was stunning - the opening shots of the cornfield are amazing and possibly the best HD picture I have seen.

The sound, well, once I realised that I had the player set up wrong - woops - the trueHD soundtrack was amazing and really rumbled the room and was clearer - not as much of a jump as some people may think, but to my ears there was a widening of the sound and an extra clarity.

Thoroughly recommend the set (altho you do have to import it) and the extras and packaging are just LUSH ! The quality of the bookmarks are brilliant and the fact it cost me about £55 at current exchange rate is very good too.

Oh god, I am such a packaging fanboy.....

Hi pal

which website did you get it from? And did you get hit for customs charges if it was an import?

Re: Harry Potter HD DVD giftset

I got it from Amazon and didn't get caught by customs but this is purely by luck as I have been caught with other items (such as the Star Trek HD DVD box set which cost me an extra £22)

Abit pricy at nearly £90 though, can be had for around £70 from other customs friendly companies.

DVDWorldUSA, Movietyme, Axel Music, DVDsLimited

They are all customs friendly and each has the set at a different price.

Re: Harry Potter HD DVD giftset

babybearbarker, Totally agree mate, got mine at Christmas and love everything about it. and your right about the bookmarks. I wasn't expecting them to be the quality they are.

Trouble is i think i'll have to buy the films seperate as i don't like to keep opening sets like this. The packaging is too good to mess up

Re: Harry Potter HD DVD giftset

I would be interested in this as I have none of the Harry Potters on high def yet, but is it true that the first two films are just in CD cases?

No Greg. The 5 films are in sort of school exercise books stylee. The first 2 films are in 'books' the same size as CD cases where the last 3 films are in longer cases. The covers are folded card affairs with a plastic disc holder glued inside.

If you need futher details I can take some photos for you.

Just to add to Rom's details, the cases have embossed covers too which adds a bit more to the quality. May be small but it all adds up in the end
