I've seen loads of threads complaining about the lack of releases in High DEf. In a recent one at AVS I posted the following reply. I thought it might be useful here, as we do get complaints about releases being a little thin in the ground.

Just so you know, before I go any further, I'm dual-format.
I have a 43" plasma in my living room and a HD73 projector in a cinema room.
I find that high def looks 'good' on the plasma, and 'wow' on the projector. So, I generally watch one high def film every week (usually a Friday night) on the projector.
Still with me?
Film I own but haven't watched yet (in high def, that is - I've seen some in SD):
Hot Fuzz
Spider-Man
Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man 3
M:i-2
M:I:III
Big Fish
Bourne 1
Bourne 2
Happy Feet
Kingdom of Heaven
The Polar Express
Mad Max 2
Films on order buy not yet received/released (or pencilled in to buy):
Bourne 3
Harry Potter 5
Blade Runner
Stardust
Eastern Promises
The Kingdom
Pan's Labyrinth
Zodiac
The Brave One
Pixar Shorts
OldBoy
Ratatouille
Die Hard 1
Die Hard 2
Die Hard 3
Die Hard 4
Independence Day
The Simpsons Movie
Sunshine
'Breaker' Morant
Life Of Brian
Godzilla
Memento
Layer Cake
Add to that the following which I'll be buying when we eventually see them, which should be before I see that lot of:
Jack Ryan 1
Jack Ryan 2
Jack Ryan 3
Jack Ryan 4
I make that 41 films.
At one a week that takes me through until Friday the 29th of August next year.
Heaven knows how many great new/catalogue titles will be available by then.
If not, there are still quite a few films I've not got round to ordering yet, but which I could if there was a dry patch.
Casino
Babel
The Untouchables
2001: A Space Odyssey
Full Metal Jacket
The Aviator
Crash
Reservoir Dogs
Apocalypto
28 Weeks Later
In addition there are the upcoming German releases of
Death Proof, Planet Terror and
T:2.
Oh bloody hell, that takes me through to the 28th of November next year.
Then I have
Annie Hall, Groundhog Day and
The Host recorded from SKY High Def on my Hard Drive.
Oh dear, I'll have run out of films by Boxing Day 2008.
My problem isn't going to be a lack of films, but too many to watch in the time I have.

ps. After all that, I forgot about
300 (see my 'too expensive' thread). That's the rest of this year and all of 2008 dealt with. Let's hope they release something decent for me to watch between now and 2009.
