300 - Why so expensive?

I have a habit of being a bit careful with my money - typical Yorkshireman.

I try to keep my spending on each disc down to £14 of below.

Well, I've been waiting for 300 to drop to something reasonable since irs release. Currently we have:

Amazon USA HD DVD $28 (£14 + P&P) Shipping from the US c.£3.50
Amazon USA BD $24 (£12 + P&P) Shipping from the US c.£3.50
Amazon UK HD DVD £23.48
Amazon UK BD £23.48
Amazon UK Marketplace HD DVD £18.98/ BD £20.43
Movietyme HD DVD £17.99/BD £15.99
Sendit both formats £17.89

Looks to me like I can't buy it for less than £15.50, and that's the PinP-lite BD version. The HD DVD is at least £17.50.

Compare that to Bourne 3 - not out until December, and £13.89 from Sendit.

Why so expensive?

Steve W

Re: 300 - Why so expensive?

you'll probably get it cheaper after the New Year, however for the sake of a couple of quid, I wouldn't 'not buy it', as it is a fantastic disc.

And people say us Scots are tight

Re: 300 - Why so expensive?

Get it second hand from the classifieds. That's pretty much where I get all mine from now. No way on earth am I paying more than £13 for a HD-DVD or Blu-ray. (except Transformers of course which I just had to have at £17.99!)

I got my copy of 300 for about £10 I think, maybe £12, can't quite remember.

Re: 300 - Why so expensive?

Its the payment options in there which have always put me off, I don't do Paypal or Internet Banking and haven't a clue where my cheque book is either.. ... so I'm a bit reluctant, personally, to buy from there... which is a shame as you say there's some cracking deals to be had.

Perhaps it's time I entered the 21st century

Re: 300 - Why so expensive?

PMs exchanged with Bald Monkey & Hooray33.

Cheers everyone.

Quite aside from my own position, I still think it's an interesting question. 300 still appears more expensive than many other titles.

Maybe it's because it's so popular.

Re: 300 - Why so expensive?

Alternatively, if you want a new disc, Deepdiscount.com are doing a 20% off deal on any current stock (i.e. not pre-orders)
http://www.deepdiscount.com/300-HD-D...VVviewprod.htm
300 is $28
$44 minus 20% off takes you to below the $36 EU/UK import VAT threshold.
So find another disc for $16 or less.
p&p for the two discs (up to $50 worth of goods) is $9
So you end up paying $22.40 + $4.50 = $27 (£13.50) for 300. Not a bad price

EDIT: Found the code. Valid until 11/25. Use the code DD1109
