differing quality of regions...

Ive just read an article (in someones magazine at work, not sure what it was) that mentioned the king kong transfer/picture quality on the R1 was much better than the R2 version. I wasnt really sure that made much sense, but is it true? and if so, are there any other films out there that suffer a quality difference between region versions?

Re: differing quality of regions...

Our version has more language options, which might be to the detriment of the transfer but I've never heard of it being inferior before.

I've always assumed (and this is backed up by the upcoming UK Bourne disc) that if more audio tracks are added, it would be at the expense of AQ, not PQ.

Re: differing quality of regions...

yes it really didnt make much sense, but then again i do have a couple of dvds where the r1/r2/r3 versions do have some noticable picture quality difference, so as usual, Im clueless!

Re: differing quality of regions...

Yeah I read a review of POTC2 on BR that the R1 version had a slight better PQ than R2......I find it if its all true.

Re: differing quality of regions...

I can't see any difference in KK but Serenity has a mildly better transfer on the UK disc.

Re: differing quality of regions...

At least with HD DVD we get a choice and can just go for the best transfer, unfortunately not always the case with Blu Ray, damn all region coding

Re: differing quality of regions...

i really wish (bit pointless though) that we would stop being ripped of, not particularly as brits, but as consumers. We already pay over the odds for most stuff we buy, be it DVD's, HD-DVDs, equipment etc... but for that then to be of less quality, thats a slap in the face.

I know its a numbers game, and at the end of the day cash is the biggest motivator for companies, but its sht
