UK Blu-Ray Cancellations - Getting Ridiculous

Why is it that every time there's a half-decent title announced as exclusive to Blu-Ray they go and cancel it, despite the fact the wretched title is typically still released State-side but in a region locked form?

"Cars" got cancelled with no new date given.

In the last week alone I've been told "Ratatouille" has been cancelled, as has "Bleak House" (despite the fact it's featured in a full page ad for all the monthly mags at the moment). And there appears to be no sign of the promised "Pixar Shorts" either.

Anybody know the reason for these cancellations, or if they're likely to finally surface next year?

It's probably due to limited production capability for bd50's, a number of new production lines were supposed to have gone online at the end of the summer and as far as I know they haven't yet.

Well, Cars and Pixar shorts are both region free, so why not just get them from Movietyme or DVDslimited?

Re: UK Blu-Ray Cancellations - Getting Ridiculous

My HD-DVD copy of Bleak House has been despatched by sendit.

My first order with Amazon uk was cancelled by them saying title withdrawn but I assume someone changed their mind?

Title also available in blue

Yeh, I've lost track of the number of times the BD of "The day after tomorrow" has been postponed. It was originally scheduled months ago. It's 28 April now in the UK, according to one site. May have to get it from Oz in March, as it's region 1 only from the US, apparently. (It'll probably be cheaper from Oz, as well !)
Crazy !

Why not get the Dutch release of 'Day After Tomorrow', been available there since December.

Re: UK Blu-Ray Cancellations - Getting Ridiculous

My copy of Bleak House arrived today.

One odd thing I ordered Bleak House (HD-DVD) and they sent me Bleak House (Blu-Ray)

Are they trying to tell me something

Box says 3 discs
Main Feature
Video Format 1080i / 16:9
Audio LPCM Stereo
Subtitles English SDH
Length 461 mins approx
Disc Format 1 x BD50 & 2 x BD25

Why not 2 x BD50 discs?
