Fletch

One of my favourite '80's comedies came up on Sky HD a few weeks back, and it's been sitting in my planner until last night.

I thought I'd post here, as it's a HD Film, not a HD TV Programme.

The PQ on Fletch was very good indeed for the vast majority of the film, with just a few scenes looking soft.

The colour wasn't brilliant, but the image was very sharp.

BTW, the film started with a Universal logo, so it'll be HD DVD if it comes out on disc.

If it looks as good as this (and on disc it should, if anything, look better), it'll be well worth buying.

Agreed. Looked great and one of my favs too.

I tend not to buy many comedies on disc but this one I will

Re: Fletch

Fletch is one of my favorite movies.

To be honest I have been longing for a SE DVD release for some time now. But an HD-DVD release would just make my year.

Re: Fletch

Great movie. The sequel is good as well.

[Fletch is being framed for drug possession by two very large cops]
Fletch: You fellas wanna read me my rights?
Detective #2: You have the right to remain silent. You have the right
to have your face kicked in by me. You have the right to have your
balls stomped by him.
Fletch: I'll waive my rights.

Desk Sergeant: You better take his picture while he still has a face.

[Fletch has just been incarcerated by the chief of police]
Fletch: Can't keep me here, chief.
Chief Karlin: Maybe I'm not going to keep you in here. Maybe I'm going
to blow your brains out.
Fletch: Well, now, I'm no lawyer, but I do believe that's a violation of
my rights.

Re: Fletch

Fletch has got to be one of the best comedies ever made.

Madeline: I'm sorry, who are you again?
Fletch: I'm Frieda's boss.
Madeline: Who's Frieda?
Fletch: My secretary.

Fletch Lives

Really deserves a better rating than the imbd one to be honest. Theres a great scene with R. Lee Ermey (drill instructor off Full Metal Jacket) as a tele-vangelist.

Re: Fletch

where did it all go wrong for Chevy Chase? just looked at his Filmography and for the last ten years all he seems to have done is tv and voice over work. Come on Chevy I know you can still make a come back

Oh Christmas Vacation was one of his best films.

Re: Fletch

I saw him on a Saturday Night Live : The Music special a while ago, fronting the segment that covered the early years, and he was wearing a baseball cap, shades and had so much make-up on he resembled his character in Memoirs of an Invisible Man.

As an aside, when he was a kid, a mate of mine thought that when there was a Chevy Chase movie on TV, that meant it was a car chase film. He says he'd ask to stay up to watch it, only to rarely find any car chases, but the same guy was always the lead character.
