Re: Bridge To Terabithia HD DVD street date in october
I felt a bit had over with this film. The trailer makes it out to be a narnia clone so got it for my lad (enen though hes nearly 1 year).
I then watched it one afternoon and realised the trailer is ALL of the narnia-esque stuff.
It is a good film in its own right, but just wish it was advertised as that ..... bet they made alot more money with the trailer as it is.

Just watched it (Italian version), it's a bit soppy but I liked it.

Yup, I saw this on theatrical release (a freebie promotion) and thought they totally conned the public with the advertising, giving the impression it was a big blockbuster kids' special FX movie, when it's nothing of the sort. The indiscriminate and frequent mentions of WETA in any kind of promotional material was a bit cheeky to say the least.
That being said, who can blame them? If they'd advertised it accurately nobody would have gone to see it. As it is the emotional impact, which is what makes the film well worth seeing, would be lost if they told people upfront what the film was really about. Spent the first half of the film thinking "average low budget British-like Children's Film Foundation job" and then suddenly mid-way through the film became something else completely. Not suitable for young kids, but a powerful, moving film for the intended target audience (older children and early teens)

Yes, not totally as expected at all but a very moving film for older children and adults as well.
Absolutely superb on Blu Ray - one of the best transfers I've seen to date.
Also managed to pick it up last month, brand new from an Amazon trader at £8.63 including postage. In fact it arrived from the Usa within 3 days.
