The Warner rumor was a hoax

It's been revealed that the Warner to go Blu-ray exclusive today was a hoax from a HD DVD fanboy to wind up the blu-ray supporters.

A very lame thing to do and just further divides and entrenches people, however I must admit to finding the huge amount of people he got to believe such a baseless rumour very amusing. The bluray.com thread is currently at 83 pages and over 1600 posts in around half a day. Unfortunately it's produced a huge amount of hatred with many on the blu-ray.com site trying to organise attacks on AVS.

Feel free to lock this if you wish mods, just didn't want people glued to their keyboards waiting for the time that the announcement was meant to be made.

But could this not be the reverse ? The offical proof from Warner Home Video would be handy and not from a third party either

It is a very silly and childish thing to do - but people should just have ignored him.

Well before it was incredibly unlikely to be true, now it's unbelievably unlikely to be true but yes it's still possible that the person saying that the hoax was a hoax was in fact creating a hoax himself

You arn't going to get official proof from Warner, the 10am deadline will just come and go with nothing happening. It's only 25 mins away now anyway. Warner isn't going to announce that they have nothing to announce just because so many gullible people believed a baseless rumour. A warner brothers exec told Dave Vaughn (insider at AVS) that it wasn't true last night but found the rumor funny.
