Re: scream trilogy on bluray

Made and distributed by Dimension Films, who are currently part of Winstein.

So that'll probably be HD DVD.

But then again, who knows.

If my mem'ry serves me well, 'Scream 1' was only in non-anamorphic SD DVD, so high def certainly would be a worthwhile upgrade.

Also, the first death was cut in the UK, so getting a US import would be another bonus.

ADDITION: It's possible that some may be distributed on home video by Genius Products, who I think are BD-only, or dual-format.

Oh dear, it's all a bit confusing.

Re: scream trilogy on bluray

At a recent trade show some people from Weinstein said they would going be dual format, but right now it's still speculation.

Aren't the Scream movies Buena Vista in the UK?

Re: scream trilogy on bluray

Yes and no.

They were BV through Weinstein, but then Weinstein split from BV.

As far as I can tell, some stuff stayed with BV, but Dimension went with Weinstein.

Weinstein haved been...how shall I put this....shte at releasing on high def.

I'm sure that, just like the other studios, they'll be 'waiting and seeing' over the next few months.

Meanwhile, based on their track record, I suspect the number of releases between now and then will be slim. A 'Scream' trilogy release doesn't look like the sort of thing that'd be top of their list, but who knows.

Yeah Weinstein aren't partaking in the high def market at present. They have a few titles out there, presumably to show initial intent, but have subsequently held on all releases - they currently have nothing announced. I should imagine they are awaiting greater market penetration of the formats before they commit further - they are a very small studio so this would seem prudent.

But Scary Movie is a parody whereas Scream is a terrifying horror/thriller
