Thanks: Gave 616, Got 899 | Gladiator on HD DVD in 2007?
Did I miss an announcement? I was watching the HD DVD demo disk playing in Comet at 'The One Stop' in Perry Barr. Appearing about five times during the demo were clips from Gladiator including the tiger taking a swipe at Russel Crowe. Also on the demo was 'Bridget Jones', 'Notting Hill' and possibly 'Love Actually'. The demo had the heading "Coming Soon in 2007".

Fingers crossed, I'd love Gladiator and I'm sure my wife would love a high def Love actually. In fact if I'm honest it's a title I really quite enjoyed myself.

This title would be good, especially if they got the director's version and all the extras in one package.

The Gladiator Extended cut was one of those rare times when I thought the original theatrical version was far superior.
Conversely, watched Kingdom of Heaven Dir Cut last night which was miles better than the original theatrical cut, even if it was over 3 hours !!
Kudos

I suspected Gladiator would be one of the releases paramount/dreamworks would come out with following the switch.
Anyone worked out how many new un anounced titles there should be between now and xmas from HD-DVD? Going by the numbers of releases announces at CEDIA?

They said 125 titles from Universal, Paramount Studios and Warner Bros in quarter 4.
So lets assume quarter 4 to be October, November and December.
From October 1st
There is 11 Warner reissues with dates
11 Universal
10 Paramount/Dreamworks (counting Jack ryan collection as 4)
25 Warner (counting each title in a box set as 1 AND counting each different version of a movie as 1, ie blade runner is 2)
So worst case senario that is 125 - (11 + 11 + 10 + 25) = 68 more titles to annouce. Of course there is a few titles that we pretty much know we are getting like shrek 3 that will eat into that 68.
So should be between 68 and 90 (best case) from the 4 main studios Warner/Universal/Paramount/Dreamworks still to announce. So should be a great quarter 4.

Gladiator and all other Universal titles used to be distributed by a variety of companies including Sony. However in the last few years Universal Home Video was established to handle European distribution.

However, occasionaly I see a film and dislike it, but see it again and love it.
Maybe it's just the mood I'm in at the time.

hehe
Not sure what it was but i just really liked it. i think it's got alot to do with my interest in Roman history though, i remember doing Latin at school many years ago and have always been fascinated by it. Due to a couple of trips to rome, and pompei
But as you say nowt stranger than folk... I seem to be the only person that thought casino royal was a pile. I remember sitting there at the end wishing the bird would just die in the water so i could turn the damb thing off :D

Most of my collection came from America, one from Europe and a couple from the UK. As long as the title appears somewhere in the world I have no problem buying it. I imagine the release date listing was for America though. More money for Movietyme then.
