Re: where can we post sales figures?

The DVD Players (High Definition) forum seems the more appropriate place. Studio support and sales figures are really a grey area between these two forums but there's more general discussion in there, so it seems a little better suited.

Edit: Didn't realise that they changed the rules for that forum in the past few hours.

Re: where can we post sales figures?

Maybe a non brand specific thread that just talks about total HD sales and isn't type specific. I'm a fanboy, a HD fanboy. I think HD is the mutt's preverbials. I'm also dual formatted because I fancy getting the best discs regardless of which manufacturer is trying to peddle it. So I have invested in a new format that I hope doesn't go the way of laser discs.

Re: where can we post sales figures?

some folk find it interesting Adam. Not everyone takes every little figure and spins it, or turns it into an propoganda film. Some people are genuinely interested.

Yes I agree with you.

But while there are certain elements here then no reasoned discussion can or will take place.

Any and all such thread will decend into fan boy wars and mods will need to step in, delete posts and close them.

I find it both funny and tragic you seem to think you are in no way responsible for how these forums have changed and why such steps have been taken.

Re: where can we post sales figures?

Are we men in here or a bunch of fairy's?

Whats tragic? Did some one die?

The forums haven't changed, Ive taken stick for 12 months and I've probably reported about 3 posts.

People are using the report button as some form of censorship because HD-DVD keeps getting bad news and the HD-DVD crew don't like it.

Were only talking about a format war not the Christian Crusades.

Laserdisc was great in it's time. It didn't have any real competion in terms of quality for many years. DVD, HD DVD and Blu-Ray will all go the way of the Laserdisc some day.

All the best

Re: where can we post sales figures?

I disagree that the Sales Forums (the recent ones, that is) were argumentative.

The new Sales forums which were put up weekly were one of the most friendly threads going. Even me & SAH would have a knock about laught predicting next week's figures.

I'm afraid this is using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

The question is, will the figures be banned from mention elsewhere?

If someone starts a thread - a newbie - asking "I want to go high def. What should I do? Go BD, go HD DVD, both, or neither?", will the mentining of how sales are going be banned in a reply?

Someone (BadAss I think) has DVD Empire sales in his sig - will that be banned?

The thing is this forum is for the majority not the minority - if the forum was smaller and there were just a few of us I'm sure we could all chat away for as long as we like. However it's bigger than that - alot of new members come through here and then flee when they see the constant bickering/arguing. Something had to change.

i agree here. The latest threads were good, friendly and carried in the spirit that they should have been. nothing wrong with them at all. If people dont like the content of them they shouldnt read them, pretty simple really. its like people moaning about stuff on TV they dont like...
