Thanks: Gave 489, Got 631 | Terminator 2: Ultimate Edition HD DVD
Does anyone know if Terminator 2 HD DVD is still set for a UK release on Monday (13 August)? Play, Amazon and Sendit all still list it for that day but I don't think I've seen any specs yet.
I assume this is the Ultimate edition cut but does it include the English DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack found on the French version?

From what I've understood of the UK release, and come to think of it I've just been assuming that his will be the case, it will be the Director's Cut disc from the 2-disc French release (where the second disc is the Theatrical cut with forced subs when choosing the English audio track).
The specs on MovieTyme for the French release are:
Video: Widescreen 2.35:1, Anamorphic 16x9, 1080P, Color
Audio: English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, German 5.1 DTS-HD Hi-Resolution Audio and French 5.1 DTS-HD Hi-Resolution
Subtitles: ... the Director's Cut has optional French subtitles.

Any particular reason you were waiting for a UK version?

I did consider getting the French HD DVD release (which has the theatrical cut as well) but just never really got around to it. On top of that I would never watch the theatrical cut over the extended edition anyway so don't feel I've really missed out.

Which extended version is it?
I ask this because on my R1 DVD there is actually 3 versions of the film.
The special extended version is accessed by putting the date of Judgement Day on the menu screen.

The French HD DVD is the Theactrical & DC, while it appears the UK is the DC. None of the HD DVDs have the Extended version which is accesed as an Easter Egg.

Am I right in thinking that the Master Audio track wont work on any current HD DVD players?

Doesnt anyone else think that its a bit weird they bothered to release players that dont support all the audio formats?
I realize that many of the new audio formats arent mandatory, but they should realize that many studios will use them. So it doesnt make sense to make a player that doesnt support them.
It really just makes many people wait for players that do support everything. Surely they should realize by now that all this does is slow uptake of a new format?

The lossless track is not yet supported on any HD DVD player though - largely because OEM components that can handle the codec have been slow coming. You can expect players to start supporting very soon.

Received mine this morning.
According to the packaging (not opened it yet) no English subtitles.
That really sucks as my wife is hard of hearing and relies on subtitles.
The only reason I waited for this release was that I hoped it would have English Subtitles

Does anyone have any opinions on this release whos owned it?
I don't seem to be able to find any reviews of the UK disc.
Is it supposed to the same picture quality as the French T2 HD DVD from a couple months ago?
