| Re: Straship troopers Blu ray in blockbuster
My missus picked this up for me yesterday as a present (she paid £27 for it in HMV......hmmmmm, wonder what she's up to? ). It does have all regions on the back and can confirm it works on my US PS3. Not watched it all the way through, but watched a couple of the space/ship shots and the attack on the outpost at the end and can honestly say that this lived up to expectations. And some of Ms Richards scenes. Of course. He he.
The picture was incredibly detailed and sharp, with a slight layer of grain that is not enough to distract but just enough to remind you that you're watching a 'film'. Colours looked spot on - the steely gray's of the ship bound shots and the dusty browns of Klendaathu looked vibrant. The detail was also demonstrated on the broadcast scenes - when the screen is filled with the huge word 'WAR' after the Argentina attack, the 3-D effect is amazing. Evem the cg bugs don't look dated or too false with the increased resolution. As for the sound, I can't get uncompressed PCM on my kit at the moment , but the core DTS track sounded loud, crisp and detailed and a definite step up from my original region 1 SD.
Not disappointed with this at all - looks as good as I was hoping. Can't wait to watch it all the way though with a tinny and M&Ms. Sorry for the gushing review, but this is one of my fave's and I was really worred the BD wouldn't be up to scratch. I'm glad that I was wrong.
