Re: Futurama? hd dvd! confusing?

That report doesnt really say that it will be released on HD-DVD, but on High Definition DVD, so, Blueray will be the format of choice.

*edit* i could be wrong though

It is, but the lack of the - suggests to me that, rather than naming a specific brand (HD-DVD or BD) it is just refering to the next generation of HD media.

Re: Futurama? hd dvd! confusing?

Fox cancelled Fururama anyway so do they still have rights to any shows made after the cancellation? Maybe Fox have nothing to do with the new shows?

They probably still have the rights to the show. When they cancelled Firefluy, the stopped anyone else from making another version of the series for several years (which is why Serenity took so long to come out). They probably done the same thing with Futurama. It stops the creators going to rival networks until a set number of years have gone by.

Re: Futurama? hd dvd! confusing?

The article is misleading, the title says HD DVD, but the text refers to a high-definition DVD? I wouldn't hold too much credence to it personally.

Re: Futurama? hd dvd! confusing?

Futurama fan site puts it like that:

"The 4 new DVDs are all going to be released in "Glorious Widescreen" and will be available in both DVD and High-Definition format."

Re: Futurama? hd dvd! confusing?

It will be on Blu-ray, I'm sure. Fox do still own the rights.

All I thought they announced at Comic-Con was that they are making it in widescreen and high definition.

Re: Futurama? hd dvd! confusing?

Whatever it comes on, I'll definitely be importing. I already own all four series of Futurama and can't wait for the new content, I just hope they do the franchise justice.
