Does anyone purchase their films from the USA,HD or BluRay that is.

I was hoping the HD players would be multi region,allowing you to purchase from both countries. At present I buy from DVD Pacific & Movietymes,you get great value and a fairly qhick delivery, SD that is.

Does this mean I have to buy an American player in orderto get the HD films.

Can you get an American player from some distributer in the UK.

Why do they always make it so frigging difficult,when all you want to do is give them money??????

Some are. HD DVD is totally region free at present - you can buy high def discs from the US, UK or anywhere else and they will work with your player whether it's a UK or US model. The Standard Def side will be region locked though.

BluRay is divided into three zones: Region A (US/Canada/Japan), Region B (Europe/Australia/New Zealand), Region C (Elsewhere). However not all releases are so encoded: most from Warner and Paramount are region free.

In short then for HD DVD you can buy all your releases from wherever they are cheapest. For BluRay you can shop internationally but must ensure you release isn't regionally encoded before you buy. For the latest titles from Sony or any titles from Fox you will be region locked.

I have a US PS3 for BluRay (figured the US would get a bigger selection on films to choose from with possibly better features, also can upscale my Region 1 SD-DVD's) and a HD-DVD player from the UK (HD-DVD is region free so I can upscale my Region 2 SD-DVD's).

All but 1 of my HD discs are from the US, that 1 Euro disc was Brotherhood of the Wolf from Amazon.fr, cost is the biggest factor, but if the film is better in one format or in a particular region then I will buy that at the best price I can even if higher than the very lowest price available elsewhere.
