Fox coming back soon!!

According to this site:

http://www.hollywoodinhidef.com/blog_detail.php?id=106

expect additional Fox summer hits led by "The Simpsons Movie" (opened at a whopping $72 million last weekend), "Live Free or Die Hard" and "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer."

Now before everyone flames me down saying this site has no substance; I will point out that this site is backed by all BDA studios. So it has contacts and inside info from studios.

He's not a fan boy he is well paid, I presume, by the BDA to promote BR Fanboys spend all their time trying to promote a format and it's associated companies etc, for no financial reward just a warm contented feeling...

Is it really news that Fox plan to actually release some HD titles ??

Seems that site needs as much viral marketing as the BR format

IMO this Xmas is the last chance BR has of winning outright, we are IMO heading towards a Dual future and the BDA are going all out to try and prevent that, as their whole HD strategy depends on total domination so they are trying to create enough confusion and doubt in the minds of AV enthusiasts that the sales of HD DVD will be stunted this Xmas.. They are using the very fanboys that support them to spread this FUD in the hope that they can still remove HD DVD from the equation. Most HD fans are just enjoying the movies and looking forward to cheaper hardware and software.

IMO posts which are simply linking to obvious single format promotion sites, with no real news substance or any actual news, in an obvious way to simply try and promote a particular format, should be deleted asap. We can all check out BR .com or HD DVD .com if we wish...

Adverts should be paid for, which benefits the forum, and threads should be advert free. And posters of spam should be banned.

All IMO of course.

Re: Fox coming back soon!!

You read from that one line that Fox will be back soon. Grow up.

What a stupid little site, Spielberg made the decision to choose BD, yeah right.

Re: Fox coming back soon!!

this bit of that blog made me laugh the most...

"Thieves in Seattle chose Blu-ray over HD DVD when they reportedly walked past a section of HD DVD movies in a Silver Platters store in the Northgate section of Seattle to steal an entire section of 200 Blu-ray movies "

Re: Fox coming back soon!!

Glad to see Fox are going to be releasing. Maybe I can order it all from Germany on HD DVD once they do.

That bit baffled me as well. Somehow because 'Close Encounters' is being released on Blu-ray (great news BTW) Spielberg "chose" the format rather than the more obvious explanation of the film being distributed by Columbia. Maybe Spielberg did select 'Close Encounters' as his first HD release but, if that is the case, I would imagine he made that decision based on the fact this year is the film's 30th anniversary. Studio/format prejudice almost certainly had nothing to do with it.

Re: Fox coming back soon!!

At least it appears that Fox have stepped up a gear in the HD arena then.

Look forward to further announcements in due course and some nice HD-DVD's to purchase (from Fox's impressive back catalogue) in 2008

It's very probable that Spielberg did choose Blu-ray. Sony has said this. And an site run by all BDA studios have now said this.
But Universal and the HD-DVD promo gave out a statement of apology instead, earlier this year on thier site.

Universal also said last week that the HD-DVD format needed more players in home, before any Speilberg can be released.

Re: Fox coming back soon!!

That's good news.

I think I might go out and buy a Blu-ray player when the Simpsons Movie is released (or earlier if a film I really want is released on BD and HD DVD).

I don't think I've seen a statement from him saying this. I'd be interested to see if he has that much power. If he had wanted that film released on HD DVD how far do you think he'd have got? It's a film owned by Columbia Pictures (Sony).

Similarly I wonder if he will be insisting Jaws, ET and Jurassic Park (Universal) are released on Blu-Ray?

The information has been passed on via the studio. You think Sony or any studio would **** off Speilberg by spreading mis-information??
I don't know about Universal, except that they gave out an apology to Speilberg earlier this year, for annoucing his titles.

They seem to have missed a line "Available at outrageous prices (most expensive BD discs out there), crappy or no extras and region locked"
