Reference HD DVD??

Hi, i wanted to buy my first blu ray dvd as my new kit arrives later this week.

I'd like to A) check i have pieced it all together correctly, and also B) show the whole picture/sound experience off to the wife in all its glory!

Is there a 'reference DVD' for this?

I had read in homecinemachoice that Pirates of the Caribbean - Black Pearl was supposedly the best all rounder - bonus as i've not seen it!

Any other suggestions to blow the wife away...? (excluding firearms)

Kevin
