Apocalypto blu ray question.

HI...

I want to order apocalypto from movietyme region a to playback on my uk ps3 which i belive it works fine.

My question is that the specs on that disc are pcm uncompressed 5.1 in mayan language which will playback as pro logic on my yamaha amp which is connected by an optical lead from the ps3 to amp.

The other option on the disc is dd 5.1 english dubbed which i don't want to watch it in.

Does this mean if purchase this disc and to watch it in it's original language mayan i have to watch it in pro logic...or can i change this setting somehow to at least get dd 5.1 from the pcm signal.

Thanks for any reply's.

Re: Apocalypto blu ray question.

I think the only way to get the uncompressed PCM is via HDMI or 6 chanel analog (which I don't think you can do with the PS3 can you?).

Re: Apocalypto blu ray question.

'Apocalypto' is presented in two flavors of audio -- an uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround track (48kHz/24-bit/6.9mbps) and Dolby Digital 5.1 (640kbps), both in the film's native Mayan. The PCM track is the definitely the way to go, as the dynamics are clearly inferior on the Dolby track. (Note that for whatever reason, the Mayan Dolby track is not listed on the disc's back packaging, but is accessible via the disc's "Setup" menu. Oddly, it is listed there as English Dolby Digital 5.1, but is actually Mayan.)
