"Curse of the Golden Flower"is an Universal title in UK!

I watched the movie yesterday and enjoyed it(one of the better movies this year so far).
It is already out on DVD in USA and on Sony Blu-Ray next month.
However it is distributed by Universal in UK,so we will surely see it on HD DVD this autumn.
While the movie is not a contemporary classic,it is the perfect movie for a hi-def release-exquisitely crafted costumes and decors brimming with small details and myryad ornaments and colours as well as many scenes with whole armies against a massive background...and again there are so many details and colour variations everywhere...
The movie looked a bit soft in the nightime battles and less so in the less populated and the more closely shot indoor scenes, but it still was not up to "Apocalypto" and "Shooter" standard.
I hope the Blu-Ray version will not dissapoint in PQ and i am sure that the PCM track will be stellar, because the soundtrack(score, effects, dialogue, etc) was simply the best i have heard in cinemas this year.

I'm not sure whether I can wait till September for the HD DVD. I just hope the US BD version will be compatible with UK players!

I am not waiting for the HD DVD either, but unfortunately it is coming on bd-25 with space eating mpeg-2 and PCM-not a good sign for any non-animated movie over 90 minutes long!

I have the Region 3 DVD, which will do me for now. If they do release it on HD DVD later this year I will buy it and give the DVD to a friend as a Xmas present (but NOT pretend it's new! Huh!)
