Is "The Thing" getting a BD / HDDVD release

As title - does anyone know if The Thing will be getting a release on either Blu-ray or HD-DVD?

(As in the John Carpenter masterpiece).

It's a US HD DVD release. You can get it from all the usual online retailers e.g. Movietyme, Amazon US, Axelmusic etc.

Cheers guys. I guess that means no prospect of a Blu-ray version (have a ps3, but no HD-DVD player at the moment - might buy one for this though).

With Universal being HD-DVD exclusive at the moment, there's no prospect of a Blu-Ray version of the 'The Thing' anytime soon.

As for the title being worthy the price of a HD-DVD player alone? Well, for PQ it currently sits in the middle of the Tier 2 table at AVS:
