NIN:Beside You In Time -Is the sound on the HD-DVD faulty?

Sorry for double posting about this ( already ion the 360 add on forum) but I need to find out if my copy of the Nine Inch Nails HD-DVD of Beside You In Time is faulty and if it needs to go back.

It arrived yesterday and I put it straight in to teh 360 drive to watch on the projector. The picture is simply stunning but the TrueHD soundtrack seems to have a problem.

There is nothing coming out of the rears or the sub and the sound is distorting and crackling very badly through the front speakers. The DD 5.1 track is fine but the TrueHD soundtrack is unlistenable

I have tried the TrueHD soundtracks on Superman Returns and Training Day and they sound great and are in full surround so I dont think it is the player or the amp.

I just wondered if anyone had got this disc and was experiencing the same problem...or if people playing on stand alone HD-DVD players were getting any problems with the TrueHD soundtrack?

I had the same trouble with the True HD track. It doesn't seem to downscale properly like most of my other HD-DVDs. Didn't bother me too much anyway since I always pick 5.1+ seeing as I don't have a proper True HD rig.

Absolutely not a problem with the TrueHD soundtrack on my system - that's my I went for the HD-DVD over the Blu-Ray.

Toshiba HD-A1 via HDMI into Yamaha RX-V2700 - sound is better on the TrueHD track than the basic DD track - far more spacious and enveloping - the best concert DVD i've seen and heard in a very long time! Reznor is a genius!

It must be a 360 add-on compatability problem then it seems? I double checked mine tonight and even hit display on the Tosh HD-A1 and it showed Dolby True HD and the sound was stunning!

Very strange indeed!

Re: NIN:Beside You In Time -Is the sound on the HD-DVD faulty?

Thanks for all the replies. I have asked around elsewhere it does seem it is a 360 add on compatability issue and not a problem with the disc. Everyone says it plays fine on stand alone players but only has the sound problem on the TrueHD soundtrack when used on the 360....

...so, it looks like this is the excuse I needed to buy a stand alone player
