Re: Casino Royale

Ok so US versions don't work on UK players, how about UK versions on US players, anyone got a definitive answer on that?

Re: Casino Royale

Is it possible that the US one is region A and UK one is region free? Open Season and Talladega Nights are both region free as far as I know in the UK and are fairly recent releases. The UK Stranger Than Fiction is also listed as region free.

Sony seem to be taking the sensible option and making the later release region free (as the region coding has no real point for the UK release, as it's already out in the US and has served it's purpose)

Re: Casino Royale

Oops.

Got a US copy on the way from Movietyme which it looks then won't play on our UK Samsung BDP1000. Sony kept this one very quiet, the general consencus seemed to be a few weeks ago that this title wouldn't be coded.

Wonder what Movietyme's policy is on returns in these cases?

The whole situation is a complete mess, TBH, some discs coded from some studios, others if they are new titles but not if old (and when does a new title become an old one?). There needs to be some consistency and for starters retail sites like Play and Movietyme could help by posting on their sites whether or not titles are coded. Otherwise the consumer ends up as the guinea pig, all very well if you a US and UK machine but not if only one.

Arrived this morning and confirm it does not play on UK Samsung BD player.

If anyone is interested, it's listed on Ebay with a very nice buy it now price, do a search for seller "chieftrackwelder".
