I always assumed Tarantino wrote all of the movies he also directed, mainly because he was just as famous for his writing style as for his direction. Jackie Brown, however, was based on the novel Rum Punch, by author Elmore Leonard, who has to be up there alongside the likes of L.A. Confidential’s James Ellroy in terms of superior crime thrillers.
