Re: Best Picture Quality On Hd Dvd

For me it's The Hulk. I've read good things about the picture on Chronicles of Riddick, but not the film itself.

Good picture and sound is Seabiscuit, Terminator 3 and Troy, to name a few, and there plenty more.

The Fast and the Furious + The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
2 Fast and 2 Furious exellent picture but lack of top sound.

Out of the 30 or so I've got The Hulk is quite easily the best.

Naff film though (IMHO) ,i'm sorry but if a film has no content, i can't sit through it just for the PQ

Re: Best Picture Quality On Hd Dvd

Of the one's I have I'd say King Kong and MI:3 are excellent.

Batman Begins - good
Van Helsing - OK to good
Miami Vice - can look good, but down to Mann's style it doesn't
Superman Returns - too soft for me, not sharp enough.

Obviously all are better than the DVDs

I thought the film OK, good in certain parts but dreadful in others, I mainly got it just to see what HD-DVD is capable of, I wouldn't watch any film I didn't like just because of picture or audio quality.

btw C9

You might find this useful over on AVS http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=705387 It's updated regularly too.

If found it to be pretty accurate so far with the discs I own.

Cheers

Re: Best Picture Quality On Hd Dvd

Corpse Bride I found to be particularly impressive.

I bought it on the strength of it reputedly having excellent PQ - and surprised myself by really enjoying the film!

It's a marvellous example of what is still possible with "stop-motion" animation; when I watched it I thought it was CGI, I could not BELIEVE it was animated "by hand"...
