Thanks: Gave 18, Got 756 | Major problem on the Blu-ray release of Stargate
Just thought I would post to say that everyone should avoid the Blu-Ray release of Stargate because the subtitles for the alien and egyptian languages are not present on the disc.
Hopefully they will fix this as its one of my favourite films but for now I would avoid it.

HI Indiana.
They did the same thing with the first SD release as well I think. I bought the R1 special edition years ago and that had the subtitles "burnt in" to the movie.
Perhaps they will do the same thing this time round

Is there anyway of complaining to the actually studio about this, or is it something you just have to put up with?

As for complaining about it, I saw a thread on another forum with telephone numbers and email address for the company that released it but I dont think they have had much luck yet.

The quality on the BD disc is less than stellar as well, an early title

An old thread resurrected
Decided to buy this film again to see how it looks on my setup and to my surprise the copy I got from Movietyme has an added subtitle option which displays only the missing forgeign language parts.
I dont know when they re-authored this but I didnt hear anything about it but glad they sorted it.

According to the folks over at AVS,you select option 3 in the subtitle menu and you're good to go That's on the old pressing i think.

I believe it is a 25GB MPEG-2 Disk but it still looks amazing compared to the DVD. It does have some grain (I did notice it) but it's still a major improvement. The should have made subtitle 3 the default.
I wonder if the UK release will be any different.

I watched this last night and the subtitles were there when required.
The disc is excellent and the DTS MA 6.1 sound is awesome especially when they go through the Stargate.

When I first got this disc I am 100% certain that there were only 2 subtitle tracks which is why I was quite surprised when it listed a 3rd last night.
