Question Where can I buy this Hungarian DVD?

Hi,

Can anyone help me out please?

I am keen to get hold of the Hungarian double-disc edition of the superb 2003 underground train thriller "KONTROLL", as reviewed here!

Both the UK and US DVD releases are not very good (the US release has the film in full-screen with burnt-in English subs, and the UK is a bare-bones release, with stereo sound).

The Hungarian release, however, is a double-disc release, in lovely packaging, with a Hungarian DTS soundtrack, removeable English subs, and a shed-load of extras, also with English-subs.

However, the link in the afore-mentioned review, no longer appears to work. (I assume the company has gone under. )

Any help, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Pooch

P.S. This film does turn up on Film4 quite a lot, and is Highly Recommended!

Thumbs up Re: Where can I buy this Hungarian DVD?

Hi Ian,

Thanks! They have it in stock for 5090 Hungarian Forints, which is about £18. Now if I can learn Hungarian, I might even be able to place an order for the item!

Thanks again for the speedy assistance.

Pooch

ADDENDUM: Can't find any way to contact the company, without registering. Unfortunately, I can't register to place an order, as I can't understand Hungarian, and despite having tried a few online Hungarian-to-English translation sites, all failed to be of enough assistance, to let me register.

Re: Where can I buy this Hungarian DVD?

Yep, learning Hungarian could be difficult.

Someone might be multi lingual on here.

C'mon Hungary, help the guy out.

Umm, I would do, if I could find a way to contact them. Take a look at their HUNGARIAN website, and you will see that there appears to be no way of sending them an e-mail, without registering to be a free member first. Once you're a member, only then can you e-mail them.

DVD-Man - Thanks, but it still won't translate the information page, that lets you join the site and send them an e-mail. See here. Once you click on the "Not registered yet" button, it takes you to the New Member form, but doesn't translate any of the details it wants.

So... any Hungarians out there, or anyone have a Hungarian contact (friend, family member, relative, penfriend, mistress!) who can help me get this DVD... ?!

Unhappy Re: Where can I buy this Hungarian DVD?

Afternoon People,

Well, pRot3us' eBay contact was of some assistance. He's said that the "Kontroll" 2-Disc DVD release was a very limited edition set (around 1000 copies) and is now impossible to obtain legally. So, unless a copy turns up second-hand, it looks like that's a no-go title.

However, he did say that there's a good chance the film will be given a Blu-Ray release towards the end of this year, though couldn't confirm if that will be unique to Hungary, or in other regions of the world (e.g. US, UK, etc).

Looks like I'll have to make-do with one of the bog-standard releases from the US or UK, unless by some miracle the film gets a better re-release.
