Question Fight Club DVD Special edition/Standard edition comparison query

Hi,
Is there any difference between the standard edition and the special edition of fight club?

Probably just a lot more extras on the 2 disc version. The standard one appears to be 1 disc.

Hi,

Yes, there are several major differences.

1) The Special Edition (2-disc releases) have the fully uncut and uncensored version of the movie on it. The single-disc and/or non-Special Edition versions are the original, slightly cut BBFC version, which lost about 30-seconds approx to various scenes of violence and edits to the sight of the New York Twin Towers scene!

2) The picture and sound have been fractionally improved. You now have a DTS soundtrack too, alongside a Dolby Digital 5.1 only option.

3) More extras - obviously, and most are now on the second disc, to allow for the first disc to be devoted predominantly to the improved sound and picture format.

4) It's generally cheaper now to buy the 2-disc Special Edition than the old single-disc release!

Recently received 2-disk version of this title, due to a 4-6 week delay (because of another title in order) from Amazon.

Got round to watching it last night and it's now a major contender of best PQ and SQ of any title in my collection; almost HD in quality. Remaster is a major upgrade in quality.

Transfer rate is 7-8 MB/sec which is the equal of best Superbit titles.

Sadly, no DTS track though.

The older, 1999-released 2-Disc Special Edition, which came in a carboard sleeve, housing the clear-Amaray case, DOES have DTS soundtrack. However, it looks like this has now been deleted, and replaced with a cheaper version (for about £6 or so on Amazon, RRP £8-99), which doesn't have the DTS soundtrack on it, and doesn't come in a cardboard sleeve.

You may want to see if larger branches of HMV near to you, have any of the older version still in stock. It's still available in some branches, as I saw a copy about 2 weeks ago.
