I think the R4 Superbit sounds like the best choice, as it uses the R1 transfer source but in PAL.

...or adding to my previous post, the R3 Superbit (identical to the R1) is only £6.49 from CD-Wow using the voucher / discount link combo in the Special Offers forum.
