As Batman2 says

It was Loki's plan to be captured and then he messed with their minds and riled them with his sceptre, with Banner being the main target and holding the sceptre in the scene, so he was under duress for a while, when the attack took place the Hulk's thinking
was all over the place

Maybe but there was also the thing with

Stark waiting for the Hulk to turn up. I suspect the full explanation will be in the cut scenes
.

That was after

Stark spoke to Banner about the fact that he has shrappnel near his heart (so the arc reactor becomes a positive as a power source for his armour) and trying to convince Banner to use his tragic gift/problem of the Hulk for a positive purpose to help others
.

I also wondered about this, it was the oddest thing in the movie for me.....however I still loved every second of it.

I agree with jsniper & raigraphixs interpretation

If you think back to the ending of The Incredible Hulk film, it's strongly implied that Bruce Banner has mastered his transformations into Hulk- remember it has him in a hut meditating, with the 100+ days (or whatever it was) without incident on the screen. He then looks up at the screen & smiles while his eyes turn green- as he's meditating (ie no stress or rage) the smile implies he has mastered the ability to change into the Hulk at will, without being angry

very subtle, but it does tie in with what happens in The Avengers.

One little talk cures the problem? He should replace Jeremy Kyle.

I find the same. Saw Titatanic 3D the other week, everyone has been raving about how good the 3D is, but I was disappointed with it, thought it was OK, but nothing more. I've also seen a little "making of" thing about it on Sky and the 3D scenes in that looked so much better than at the cinema.

Back on topic, loved the Avengers. They've got those moving D-Box seats in our local Cineworld now, may go back and watch it again and try those out

Watched it in 3D today, wasn't much 3D but i only wanted it in 3D as its the biggest screen in our cinema with the best sound.

All i have to say is i am Blown away....

Seriously? we are to believe in gods a Hulk a super soldier and an Iron Man suit and the only thing that sticks out is the talk,

It's only a bit of entertainment that we can all agree is a great break from reality for a good couple of hours.

Just back from seeing and really enjoyed it. Couple of questions though:

What did the Hulk say after he gave Loki a pounding as the cinema erupted into laughter and didn't catch what he said
?
And:

who was the red faced character after the the credits
?

The only bit I found a bit hard to accept was

that Agent Coulson's death was the catalyst that united them. Granted that maybe Iron Man, Black Widow & Hawkeye (as well as Nick Fury himself) might be really moved by his death, but Captain America & Hulk only met him a few hours earlier & Thor only met him briefly in Thor.
Doubt his death would've meant that much to them three (no more than the deaths of the other SHIELD agents in the control room or the 80 civilians Loki had killed the day before)?

But like you say its not really important when the rest of the film is so much fun!

Hulk says "Puny God" (If you didn't know, Hulk always says "Puny humans" in the comics.
The purple character in the end credits is Thanos. Really complicated character to explain the history of if you never read the comics or don't know who he is, but needless to say it is a really cool teaser for a MAJOR Marvel villain

I am assuming with Thor being away so long and out of contact, he did not

know who Iron Man or Captain America were (ie the good guys) when he attacked them over arresting Loki
in the jet.

Yeah

I don't think he would've known who they were, as the only person he met (outside of Natalie Portman's group) was Agent Coulson in the Thor film. Plus, even if he did know who they were I have a feeling he wasn't in the mood to negotiate & would've fought to take Loki anyway

Loved every minute of it, only complaint was that I had to see it in 3D because of timings. But I'll get over that.

About Hulk, they got him just right I thoought, considering his 2 previous outings

I also think he had managed to control his transformations, he did say his secret was he was always angry and loved the Hulk/Thor afters

My answer to some of the spoiler questions

Banner has mastered turning into the Hulk and Stark knows this that's why he is waiting for him to turn up, the only reason he changes on the carrier is due to Loki and the staff
Hulk says "Puny God" after he beats him up
The red face guy in the spoilers is called Thanos, if you wiki him, it would be awesome for him to be in a sequel with the Infinity Gauntlet
Thor wouldn't know who Iron man and Capt America were as he's never met them.

There was one thing that I was wondering when I was watching the film

just after Thor escapes from the glass/metal trap, his hammer is lying on the floor & he tries to make his hammer return to his hand but it doesn't & stays on the ground. They spend a good minute on this scene maybe suggesting he's injured or something is wrong as his hammer isn't behaving as it should.
However, in the rest of the film everything seems fine & his hammer returns to his hand after being thrown as normal? Seems like the previous scene with his hammer not returning to his hand was pointless?

Just come back from it. Absolutely loved it and had to smile at some nice touches like

During the Thor/Hulk fight watching Hulk trying to pick up his hammer

Loved the interaction between Stark and Banner and finally

The Thanos teaser during the credits

The Avengers rates very highly and is up there with the Nolan Batman films however both franchises need to up their game to match Condorman....

Not sure, no ACDC this time, have a listen - iTunes - Music - Avengers Assemble (Music from and Inspired By the Motion Picture) by Various Artists
