Joss Whedon on The Hulk, and more

Quote:
This is Marvel’s third shot at bringing the Hulk to the big screen. What did you need to get right?

WHEDON: “So much. A Bruce Banner who’s not obsessed with his own problems. A Hulk who not only feels flesh and blood, but is clearly an extension of Banner himself and not just a CGI thing that roars. A Hulk who feels dangerous, who might actually hurt someone we care about, who belongs in a classic horror film. And much more. He’s the hardest character by far, and ended up being the most fun.”

What does Mark Ruffalo bring to the role of Bruce Banner?

WHEDON: “Mark is such a delightful mensch it’s stupid. His Banner is a bunch of contradictions: graceful and awkward, meek and confident, erudite and working class, funny and sad. And contradictions are what the Banner/Hulk dynamic are all about. Also, Mark kinda looks like the Hulk. So we got to build our Hulk from him.”

We’re missing such classic Avengers characters as the Scarlet Witch and The Vision from this line-up. Are there other Avengers you’d love to bring to the screen?

WHEDON: “A boatload. Pretty much everyone but Wonder Man. I never did figure out what he was for.”

In Odin's Vault in Thor there was meant to be an amulate that Dr Strange uses.

Oh, I see what you mean, I initially thought you meant that there might be a Dr Strange cameo. It seems very likely then that, like you say, there will be a Dr Strange reference. They'll probably cram in as many references to future marvel character films as possible.

They couldn't say that Cap's shield was partly made from adamantium because Fox has the rights to Wolverine, so I don't hold much hope that an entire character owned by another studio will find his way into the movie. I think that one's been debunked, the so-called spoiler came from that well-known comics fan Jenny Agutter.

It's made of an adamantium-vibranium alloy, hence why I said "partly made from adamantium" above.

Cool

That's what I meant its the other component of the shield that allows it to absorb impacts and bounce round the room, that sentence should have had as-well on the end

Joss Whedon on if the Kree / Skrulls are villains in the film

Updated
Quote:

"I will say only this: It is not the Kree or the Skrulls. Those two aliens are Marvel mainstays and have enormous backstories. They have a big life of their own that just could not be contained in a film where I already had seven movie stars."

"The Skrulls — they can shape change. That’s a whole thing. I’ve already got Loki. He’s got magic. Once you got magic along with your Iron Man and your Black Widow — it’s a real juggling act."

true, i kind of meant it as, its either Both of them or none.

iirc from earlier, we worked out the kree were gonna use earth as a beachhead. so yeah..

i can see hulk going rogue, but from whedon, seems a little too... predictable?

I watched the film last night and although in the comics its made of adamantium-vibranium when he picks the shield up he says whats this I think Stark says like "its a prototype made of Vibranium."

will be interesting if it's orginal or if it's from the one that tony had in his house in iron man 2? updated of course to include the adimantium and vibranium alloy as per the comics.

Cool

I disagree on the guff they put in one film that the only thing that would penetrate Adamantium would be an Adamantium bullet. It could bend it but penetrate it???

well that guff was also blown out when he's fighting x-23 in x men 2. both have an adamantium in there bodies and both have adamantium claws. yet when clashed together nothing!! i didn't think about that until you just brought that up!! i just say that all that was said in that film is forgotten!

never forgave them for deadpool's origin in that anyhow

Sure, that's exactly the point I was making above: they're not allowed to mention adamantium because Fox have the rights to Wolverine and any associated guff, which includes the wondrous metal that's adhered to Logan's bones.

Thats stupid adamantium was used long before any one thought up the character Wolverine I remember Ultron being made of it long before him and he was an Avengers foe.

if only they had have got hank pym in there maybe as a small cameo role with ultron in there with him helping. now that would make for a good way of giving a possible life to a tie in film with him in.
