Question Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves - a question

Hi,

Can anyone help me here, please?

I'm interested in eventually buying a copy of Kevin Costner's 1991 adventure movie "Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves". The main problems, though, are these:

- The film must be completely uncensored
- The DVD must NOT be a flipper disc.
- The film must be in the original widescreen 1.85:1 ratio (though 16:9 compatibility isn't needed)
- The film must have its original English soundtrack, and English subtitles.
- The film does not need to be in DD5.1!

At the moment, the UK R2 disc is cut, but a single-sided, dual-layer. The R1 US/Canadian edition is uncut, but a damned flipper!

Does anyone know if it's possible to get this movie on DVD, from anywhere in the world, that fulfills my list of wants above? Any help, would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Pooch

The french DVD seems to be the way forward (at the moment)

1) Like all french DVDs it`s uncensored
2)It`s a DVD9
3)it`s in 1:1.85 but not enhanced
4)Film has english french and italian soundtrack and a dozen of subtitles
5) soundtrack is 2.0 surround encoded
HTH
BTW the german DVD seems to be allright as well
both french and german DVD cost 12.99€ from amazon (.de and .fr)
info on french DVD here:http://www.dvdfr.com/dvd/fiche.php3?id=1270

Warner is schudeled to release a new Special Edition of Robin Hood : Prince Of Thieves next year.
This release will feature an anamorphic widescreen transfer at the very least.

More info will follow.

Hi Folks,

Thanks to everyone for their help and advice. I haven't been able to locate any release info for the alleged S.E. version, which was due out last week, but then this is Warner's we're talking about. As for their idea of what constitutes a Special Edition, well this could be interesting to say the least! Let me guess:

- Theatrical trailer
- Video trailer
- Preview trailer
- Foreign language trailer
- Warner Bros "Other Releases" trailer
- 2-second featurette
- The final 30-seconds of the Bryan Adams song.
- A digitally remastered mono soundtrack
- Czech Republic DTS soundtrack
- Subtitles in Hungarian, Swahili, Senegalese, and Egyptian Heiroglyphics.
- Enhanced-by-dragging-through-the-Warner-Bros-backlot-dustbin picture, with out-of-synch sound, severe digitisation and edge-enhancement!
- A wonderful cardboard box.
- And a £29-99 retail price!

Also, I severly doubt the BBFC will let this through uncut, unless the certificate is increased to a "12", and you know what the BBFC is like with the whole different versions, different formats, different certificates thing...!

Looks like I'll eventually take a quick hop over to Amazon.de or Amazon.fr!

Cheers people!
