its a 70's euro crime thriller (french or italian iirc) and the only part i have seen was a fantastic chase across the city involving cars, running, buildings and iirc a train system that also ran on raised rails through the city, im sure the main guy was a quite old and did his own stunts, i did think it was le samourai with alan deloin but after watching it, it wasnt that! the dvd of it i saw was dutch iirc and the movie was subbed, the style of the film looked like a blueprint for the car chase in the bourne identity

Are you sure it was set in Europe? Sounds very much like the French connection, but that was set in the US, and is probably too obvious anyway.

yup definitely not french connection its in the same vein, same gritty style but european for sure, the main guy was quite old, dark hair, possible wearing a longish leather jacket, iirc he was a familiar euro actor like a depardeu for the 70's type

Yes and SPOILER Omar played the cop but he was a villain, jean paul belmondo was the thief and was the well the hero. Seem to remember some one drowning in chippings or grain.
