this interests me too. Looking at Amazon (france) they cant guarantee delivery before xmas, and to be honest there is not a great deal of info about them (and the contents) on the web to make me order them.

I noticed that they will be released in Feb 07 in the States, so I'm going to wait for that.

Re: anybody got the rambo trilogy on hddvd ?

amazon.de have rambo listed as december 1st release, theres a review for it on areadvd.de. It basically says , some scenes look good and sharp, some look soft which seems to be the case for a release of this age."The compression shows no obvious deficiencies"(free translation what can i say!)

I might chance it when it comes out, I love rambo ! will let you know what its like if I do get it.

thanks ricky. please let me know what they are like. I wouldn't expect too much from First Blood (the best of the 3 ), but the colours and settings in parts 2 & 3 could really look fantastic.

I would have ordered as well, but due to money need to know for sure if they are quality before buying.

cheers

Re: anybody got the rambo trilogy on hddvd ?

they arrived this morning, not had a chance to watch them fully but did have a skim through the 3 of them. First thing I noticed is they're all clean as a whistle, no dirt or specs to be seen and no compression problems, was expecting First Blood to be a bit worse for wear but it looked great. Its clear and sharp, some small noise for a second or 2 in the bit where he takes the police out in the forrest and where hes in the cave (I checked those two parts especially!). Part 2 looks even better.the night scenes in it looked really good. Part 3 if im honest blew me away. The detail is top notch and it was really crisp.
So if you're a Rambo fan go for them , you wont be dissapointed ! no extras on them but ive seen them all on the sd discs so I dont mind. I got Total Recall and The Fog aswell but not had a chance to check them out yet.

I bought them from here :
http://xploitedcinema.com/catalog/hd...7cc4a01ae83352

Went for fedex shipping, they were sent thursday got here today great service

Re: anybody got the rambo trilogy on hddvd ?

hey
sorry guys been busy, have watched Total Recall fully through, another cracking transfer. The Fog is looks pretty good too, only had a chance to skim through it though. Good detail in it even in dark scenes(some more so than others), some soft looking bits when theres optical effects. All the canal releases I have are very clean. Cant wait for their T2 !

None of them force subtitles by the way and they all have good menus aswell

Let me know what you guys think when you get them !

Re: anybody got the rambo trilogy on hddvd ?

*** EDITED ***

well, I received the 3 films today and.........

I skimmed through them and was at first pretty much underwhelmed when I skipped through BUT I then put on the R2 sdDVD's and there is actually a HUGE improvement in comparison. The new images are cleaner, and after tinkering a wee bit with my sets calibration I saw the difference. Blacks are just that.

I guess that the films which were made in 1982, 1985 and 1988 are showing their age on the old format, and that was never so evident when I put in the old DVD's (which now look absolutely awful in quality).

I firstly watched First Blood and some of the picture quality is superb, excellent even. The only downside is the forest scenes (in sections) where Rambo gives the 6 police officers a bit of revenge. Other than that its a very good disc. The scenes with Brian Denehy and Richard Crenna are outstanding in quality, and also the last 10 minutes from when he goes back into town (from the petrol station fire) are sumptuous.

Next I just finished watching Rambo : First Blood Part 2 - and - It knocked my socks off. WOW. You really appreciate the quality after looking back at the old discs. The scenes are crisper, more vibrant and (for the most part) as sharp as a pin. The pure quality for instance in the boat ride with Rambo and Coa Boa is just unbelievably beautiful. The colours leap out at you. next test was the night scenes at the camp and the detail is brilliant. so much clearer and I cant believe how much better this is compared to the old dvd. When Rambo makes his escape to the extraction point the detail is unreal. For me though the highlight is without doubt the helicopter chase near the end of the film. it is what HD DVD is all about - complete depth and clarity. The explosions are a celebration of colour and clarity.
There is some softness throughout the film but not much, and this transfer (IMHO) makes this film a joy to watch.

still to watch Rambo 3 (the weakest in the trilogy for me) but I can't wait.

quality liner. also -

It's a blue light .
'what does it do ?'
'turns blue.'

watched Rambo 3 last night, and the picture quality is brilliant in places. Most noteably when Rambo has the fist fight with the bodyguard guy at the top of the hole. Most of the scenes outside are of the highest quality with the colours of the landscape and Rambo's great tan look top quality.

I would thoroughly recommend the trilogy to any fan, and it looks fantastic

Are these in DD+ ?
How do they sound or are you using the 360 add-on ?

yes, I'm using the 360 add on. viewing at 1080i. the soundtracks in all films are (it says) DTS HD-Master.

Sound even with the add on is excellent. In particular the 3rd film

another one -
'I'm sorry I got you into this John'
'No your not'

or

'hows the wound ?'
'You taught us to ignore pain didn't you ?'
'Is it working ?'
'Not really'

true cringe worthy moments

I knew you'd come around, thought you were a bit rough on them first time out !! they really do look good for their age. I got Field Of Dreams yesterday and the quality is awful. its really making me appreciate the Rambos even more!

another Rambo 3 quote -

'what do you want to do John ?'
'well, surrounding thems out.'

or

'I;m sorry I got you into this John'
'no your not'

Cheers again. going to watch Rambo 2 again tonight. fantastic picture
