tbh i wasnt expecting the picture on this to be that great but imho it is im watching it fully 2nt but had quick flick through it yesterday and it impressed me cant wait for the 1st one to arrive now, the sound is a vast improvement over the dvd too

Richard (I think) Donner was the director of the 1st Superman film...he also filmed most of Superman II whilst he was at it, but then left the project and they drafted a new director in who filmed a few new scenes, re-edited bits and made it into the film that everyone knows. Now, using the miracles of modern technology, Mr Donner has returned to the editing suite and cut and pasted his original vision for the film back together, hence the "Donner Cut"...
