Lord Of The Rings - Marathon

Has anybody had a LOTR marathon? Like watching the trilogy in one day consecutively? How did it go?

It was a long day, but worth it. Defenitely a win for PAL over NTSC

If i'd have watched 4 or 5 films it would have been worse. It always felt like you were watching the one film, which is the idea.

Don't like the disc changes though, especially the split in parts 2 and 3.

I did this back when the extended versions were all available, it is a bum nummer, but well worth it. Just make sure you have plenty of popcorn at the ready.

Never thought about that, I was going to do the marathon when I get the EE versions as I havent watched them yet. How much shorter do you think the PAL is to the NTSC (the EE and the non EE) roughly possibly

ive done it with lotr and rocky....
(on seperate days mind )

tho a friend of mine dropped out after rocky IV, wasnt impressed....

rocky actually works really well for it cos the films all start only seconds after the previous one ended.

I did the first on a friday night then 2 and 3 on Saturday afternoon/evening with a mate.
If watching all 3 together I think you need to plan it lasting at least 13 hours (with food/toilet breaks).
Oh and make sure you're well stocked up on munchies and beer, just don't start drinking too soon or you won't have a clue whats going on by the end

Nothing, except the PAL version will be shorter beacuase of the 4% PAL speed up.

thanx for the link smashed - very enlightening. when i read of a 4% increase in playback speed my first thought was that music would sound different to what was intended. i couldnt quite believe this to be the case though as i was sure that i would notice it.

how does ntsc get around this? pal runs at 50fields (25frames/sec) but NTSC does not match 24frames either, running at 60fields (30frames/sec)
thanx
