Not yet seen Macross but Cowboy Bebop was in my opinion very boring (despite the very frequent positive reviews).

Alot of anime fans seem to have a particular taste to their genre so any reviews should be taken with a pinch of salt. The movie Spirited Away for example recieved an enormous amount of positive reviews but it is so rubbish that I couldnt even watch it to the end despite attempting to twice.

I found Ghost in the Shell 1 to be good (approx 6/10) but not as good as some make it out to be. I started to watch Ghost in the Shell 2 but found in tiring after 1 hour. Will give it a second attempt another day.

The best anime/CGI movie ever produced is Final Fantasy VII Advent Children.

Fans of GITS and Appleseed will love FF Advent Children.
I find it bizarre that you dislike spirited away but like the atrocious advent children.

Ghost in the shell 1 was an 11/10 for me, absolutely amazing film. GITS 2 is good just not as good as the original masterpiece.

Laputa - Castle In The Sky is the best anime, but I fell in love with that when I was about 7 or 8 and it has always been a favourite of mine.

Just watched GITS 2 last night and have to say I was dissapointed. I dont think it was a patch on the first. Why its not all 3D is anyones guess but it did ruined the rest of the film. The 2D animation was nothing too look at anyway. So you have very detailed 3D backgrounds with monotone 2D charractors on top of them and they just dont mix. I expected more from cutting edge animation.
