Moulin Rouge Region 1.....Wow!
For me this is one of the most amazing films of the last decade and getting the Region 1 dvd on the 25th certainly made my Christmas!
Fanststic movie, awesome DTS soundtrack and a wealth of extras make this one of the,if not THE finest dvd in my collection.
Spetacular Spectacular indeed......Bravo to 20th century Fox for Moulin Rouge!

Well...disc 1 is!
I can't comment on disc 2 as it won't play on my Wharfedale 750.
Anyone else have this problem? Disc 1 is fine.

Watched Moulin Rouge last night.Despite high expectatins I was disapointed. The relationship between Kidman and Mcgregor was not at all believable, with no chemistry between them at all. The songs became irratating after a while. Many of the camera pans were just too fast. I know this was the effect, but it just made me feel dizzy. To top it off, every time I saw Jim Broadbent (owner of the Moulin Rouge) I pictured him in a previous role as Roy Slater from only fools and horses...
On the plus side, the movie is visually amazing. Set pieces and choreography are about as good as it gets.Sound is also top notch. Shame its let down in a couple of areas, mainly an unsuitable cast. I know I'm in a minority here, but I feel it could have been a lot better.
Rob.

Re: Moulin Rouge Region 1.....Wow!
Is the Region 1 better than the Region 2?
Is there any difference in extra's?
oh and u know the song "come what may" on the dvd, is it the
original version or the dance mix.

Hi Shaz,
I'm not sure what the specs are for the REGION 2 version but I imagine they will be almost identical. The R1 and R4 versions are supposed to carry exactly the same features so I don't see why the Region 2 version should be any different (although you never know!)
As for the "Come What May" video,it's the dance version.

This film was an unexpected, and pleasant surprise when I saw it at the cinema.
As usual, I was dragged along by the missus to what I thought was a "chick flick".. but was blown away by it.
It was one of the few films I've been to where the audience actually applauded the film at the end.
The R1 disc is a gem too, especially if you have a good DTS setup.
Highly recommended.

Sorry for the total tangent, but that reminds me of the time I saw Rocky 4. The whole audience was calling his name and cheering him on. It was just like being ringside!
