IIRC The advert in question was not explecit in graphical content......

The difference being you dont just click on Zombie holocaust to find explicit pictures,
The difference for me is anyone can easily click the banners and get through to there website showing unsuitable material for children.
Just discussing about a film is not the same

I agree the advert in question was not in itself explicit,
Like betamac has said your one click from going onto an explicit site.
I am not concerned that these adverts will appear on AV Forumns I just dont think they need appear in all rooms, we an adult section and I think these type of adverts should be kept here.

apparently my opinion is worthless because i may have typed a minor swear word once or twice, so feel free to disregard, but from what i can see, movietyme themselves do not want to be linked to the porn dvds since they have registered a different domain specifically for them. if it's not alright to put them on your own main site craig, why is it ok to put them on here?
Oh and so that i can be sure i havent been having a go for nothing, i put the site to the test. just 2 clicks away i can see explicit thumbnails showing all parts of the female anatomy as well as a dildo, and lots of explicit language.
so i stand by what i said, there's a place for everything, and everything in it's place.

If forum members are concerned about their children gaining access to porn sites via banners on AVForums, they should just make sure they have a good Internet filter on their computer!

I am sure they do, but that does not stop many many parents from not even knowing its available, many children teach there parents to use a PC not the other way around.
Besides it should not be needed on a site when looking at DVD news and reviews etc.

Didn't ever say or imply that your opinion is worthless, far from it it bought up a great point to research, hence myself and Stu running the poll to see what people think.
As for the different domain, two reasons. Number one so as we do not have certain words etc that would block our site for people at work etc and number 2 as i sold off the adult section of the site and it is run by the guys and girls in our LA office as a seperate entity.
Totally agree with your thoughts about where things should go also, thing i couldn't understand was the way in which you worded your first post, i certainly would not call you a prude looking at some of your posts on this forum plus looking at some of the DVD's in your very own collection....

in which case parents should get some knowledge! it no excuse to say you dont know - your the parent (Not you specifically Betamac - i'm talking generally)
seems to me that the web is another area where parents think they can get away with not "parenting" (like TV) just sit little johnny down and let him do what he wants without supervision. maybe parents should take a more active role rather than expecting other people to do it for them? we all know that if kids are going to look at porn they can find it easier than clicking on an avfiorum banner - and if people believe that the net is safe - then they should wake and smell the real world.
and before lots of outraged parents jump on my back - i know what this is like as my daughter once stole my CC and tried to get to scotland to meet a loony - so i know what can happen.

yes it was - she was 15 - it got me on the BBC TV news!!! and according to Glasgow police he was a certified nutter. so while you are all worring about a dvd ad - what are your kids doing on the forums at MTV.com and any number of sites that you think are safe!! i would never put a PC in a childs room where i cant see it. she 20 now and fine but at 15 she was full of hormones.

Thanks Tejstar - i only got worried when i got a ONE WAY ticket to Glasgow in the post from Virgin trains. had it out with her and she came clean. up to this point i always trusted her on the web - got rid of it after that. i only had home access again about 6 weeks ago.
the internet is big, scary and very dangerous - you have to aware of what your kids are doing - but i guess that most dont - christ there are members on here who put PC's in their kids bedrooms and the are under ten!! and they dont supervise their kids access. indeed one member said that if their kids found any porn it would matter has they would know what it was anyway - so thats alright then call social services!!!! some people shouldn't have kids!! they are not old enough mentally to deal with it.

Well sorry to hear about your experience.
But I think you will find the problem is not children of a young age on this site, I watch everything my daughter uses on the inet, she is only allowed on Inet on laptops in room with us for the simple reason so we can monitor this.
Im more concerned at me looking at AV Forumns Daughter is watching tv next to me and XXX ads pop up everywhere, plus if these keep apearing on my PC at work I would have to stop using the site at work which to be honest is where I look at this most.
I really cant see what the prob is we dont have adverts for fairy liquid or cars ect on here as they are nothing to do with the subject that these forumns are set up for.
We have an adult section why not just let the ads run in here.

I haven't got any kids yet but I can imagine how stressed I'd be in a similar situation.
I agree with The Gooner though, having these suggestive ads in public forums can only cause problems, at least in the adults forum you know what to expect.
