Deathrace 3000

Paul W S Anderson is currently signed on to write, direct and produce Deathrace 3000, a remake of the 1975 movie "Death Race 2000" starring David Carradine.

Anderson is apparently planning a "Road Warrior" type of movie, which i would assume means that we can forget about the mindless running over of old ladies and children, and except a post apocalyptic setting, a hip young cast and PG-13 violence..

Anderson quoted - "Set in 2020, ours is an ultraviolent, no-holds-barred race with heavily armed Escalades, Ferraris and Aston Martins", he said."

... ok then!

I think quotes from a couple of users on the imdb forums sum this movie up perfectly.

"IF IT'S SET IN 2020 WHY IS IT CALLED DEATH RACE 3000?"

and

"I plan on killing myself before this movie gets released"

It has the potential to be quite good but an ultra-violent remake of Death Race 2000 with a similarly scintillating script would be more fun.

He's been trying to get this off the ground for years , he had Tom Cruise supposedly signed up for it a few years back. He might manage to get it going ...it will suck of course.

Well, let's see, based on how he hyped up AVP, the above quote can probably be read as "set at 8:20pm, ours is a PG13, no-holds barred race around a Tesco's carpark with a couple of heavily loaded supermarket trolleys"
