Will it be your typical movie of game rubbish that we have had in the past?

I love the games, but don't hold out any hope unfortunately. They just don't translate well at all do they ?
I can't think of one game movie that i liked. tomb raider was only eye candy.
still, the ending cant be worse than Halo 2 - or can it

I'd say they've taken worse material and made decent films out of it in the past so why not?
There is enough high concept sci-fi stuff in Halo ; albeit cliched , that could stand up to being crafted into a movie.

Think a more swashbuckling version of Starship Troopers.

apprently this is going ahead as a marketing plan to blast sony's ps3 out of the water. this along with the release of halo 3 to hit sony in 2 big area's. apprently halo 3 same day ps3 lauch and the movie i heard to compete with a leading title like Gran turismo 5 etc

as soon as i heard about it i though Starship Troopers. get michael ironside on the job

But PS3 is being released at xmas in Japan, right? I don't think Halo: The Motion Picture, will be ready by then

Hopefully all of Bungie's/Microsoft's efforts and resources will be ploughed into making Halo 3 as good as Halo. Movie planning & production will be a distraction for management and creative staff at both firms.

And anyway, with the amount of cut-scene in Halo 2, I wouldn't have thought a movie would be necessary!!

Another sliver of hope for the film is that there is a Halo Novel which could add susbstance to the plot.

Re: Halo, the movie?

So we have a Weta produced Halo 3 trailer on the Marketplace, called Arms Race, and we have a life size Warthog from Weta Workshop. Weta are linked to Peter Jackson and he is linked to the Halo movie project so are they sort of visual effect test beds while the Halo film is on hold?

"Microsoft and Bungie released these few images showing some behind the scenes action for the Neil Blomkamp short movie from last week."

Re: Halo, the movie?

Im not sure about this, it looks a little too poor to be a proper effort (looks straight to dvd etc. but I cant see them doing that with something as big as Halo, i'd imagine it would be all or nothing) but then all the kit looks pretty good, the vehicles etc. What exactly is this and is there any more info around ?

It's just a mini series made to build up to the launch of the game. (It ends just before the game starts.)

It is directed by Neill Blomkamp and all the weapons, vehicles etc. are made by Weta studios.

The Warthog is drivable, not road legal though.

The movie itself was canned.
