Mr and Mrs Smith

I have a feeling that this won’t be that good however am keen to see it given all the rumours that it broke his marriage to Jennifer Aniston. Plus Angelina Jolie looks delectable!

Anyone planning on seeing it this weekend?

Seth – I await your review as I know you’ll be seeing this asap!

Agree with Tejstar. Don't like the looks of this at all.

Looks like a cross between "Prizzi's Honour" and "War of the Roses" with things blowing up (a lot) and a style and pacing for the ADS gneration.

Definitely not a remake of the Hitchcock original!

Will wait for a free peek methinks.

I think it reminds me of Undercover Blues ( married couple Dennis Quaid and Kathleen Turner are both spies etc etc ) I think this might have started out as the sequel to True Lies before Cameron decided after september 11th not to make it, personally i think it has potential to be a fun enjoyable summer action flick with perhaps some humour in there too.

The only thing drawing me to this film is the on-screen chemistry people have been harpering on about over the last few months!

Looking forward to your thoughts Dave on whether it’s a decent film!

this looks like a really, really cheesy, rubbish movie...I can't remember the last time I groaned at a trailer but this one even made me shake my head in awe at its crapness...but Empire magazine give it four stars and they are usually just about right (in my opinion)...I won't see it though.

A good enough reason to go and see any movie, IMHO.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing it, it looks like it'll be good fun.

Saw the trailer, thought True Lies and then thought waste of money. With War of the Worlds & Batman Begins out soon i'll give this a miss.

Ok,

Just got back from the movie.

Now bear with me because writing reviews is not really my thing, and neither is grammar or spelling

I saw this in screen 4 of the UCI cinema at the festival leisure park in basildon.
Best time to go there is in the afternoon and the cinema was almost empty.

OK, here goes.
I really liked this movie, now I have to admit that I am a fan of the big dumb action movie but even so I thought this was an execptionaly well made and well put to gether piece of summer fodder.
The humour in the film is along the lines of True lies funny with both brad pit and jolies charecter getting an equal amount of on screen one liners. There is also a large amount of on screen violence with a particular stand out moment between Mr and Mrs smith fighting in their own house.
Of course ,this movie is not exactly original and you can see how its going to end about 5 mins into the thing but the ride it takes you on to get there is very well put together and paced.
Brad and angelina both complement each other on screen so well that it is no suprise that they got it together behind the scenes.
I don't really want to give any plot points away either but the movie reminded me of war of the roses crossed with true lies and a bit of bond and Borne identity thrown in for good measure. It ran for 2 hours and I was never at a point where I was bored or wanting it to end, in fact if the film does have a minor flaw its in its execution of the ending. It does not leave you unsatisfied but it could have done with a just a little more "something" if you see what I mean.
I also liked that fact that there are little touches in the movie that are not over explained and rammed down your throat about how a certain thing in the movie was done(hard to explain with out giving any thing away )
So out of 10 in my humble opinion i would have to give it an 8

Oh and just a note on the presentation. This is the first time in a long time that I have not had to complain to the people in the cinema about the sound or picture. Every thing was spot on from start to finish. The dolby digital sound track really has you felling those punches and kicks when the smiths are laying in to each other

Dave.

That's what I was thinking, especially as there seem to be very mixed reviews!

Sin City is very good IMO - but as with lots of movies, it's all subjective. If you liked the comic book, or if you liked the way, say, Pulp Fiction worked story line wise, then you should dig it - but hey - Jessica Alba as a stripper

Ignore the truly awful trailer, put the mixed reviews out of mind and go and see this film - it's the movie that "True Lies" wanted to be, but wasn't (and I say this as a huge fan of James Cameron).

The action is inventive but sparing - you're not bashed around the head by pointless mayhem every ten minutes - and the script is surprisingly witty, which is something that the trailers and ads for this flick haven't suggested.

The acting is great, particularly from Brad Pitt, whom I can normally take or leave as an on-screen presence. Angelina Jolie is, well, Angelina Jolie and that's all the recommendation that a lot of folks will need - one thing's for sure, dominatrix fans will have a new pin-up after seeing this film...

Doug Liman's direction is almost restrained - not so much "Bourne Identity"-style shaky-cam and with an emphasis on character which doesn't preclude the big action set-pieces kicking off, big-style.

It's an action flick that your better half might actually give a damn about.

Plus, the surround and bass channels are killer....

Just got back from watching this at UGC - Sheffield on screen 8(which is the second biggest screen )

And gotta say better than I expected, and I was looking forward to this.

2nd best film I've seen this year.

Loved the bit in the minivan

For everyone who likes to show off their system then I can see this one being a top notch demo disc.

Saw it this morn. I really enjoyed it. A big, dumb, summer blockbuster

A couple of minor issues though (*** Spoilers***):

the film needed a single main villain, a mutual enemy instead of just these two faceless agencies. Or even Vince Vauhgn's character (who didn't really have anything to do) as a reluctant pursuer or something. Maybe it would of just been more of the same, only this time it's their friends instead of their other half trying to kill them. I dunno, but they needed someone too fight once they teemed up though (maybe thats the plan for the sequel, although I hope not as like I said, it's just more of the same).

The ending felt too abrupt. It needed more resolution on how they got their respective agencies to back off, if thats actually what happened. I mean are they on the run? Did they strike a deal? Are they still assassins? I felt it needed clearing up (again, maybe saved for the sequel).

It needed a big dumb Bad Boys 2 type car chase too. When they were chasing each other home I wanted to see some carnage (the second one was pretty good but this is the guy who directed Bourne Identity, I wanted more). Also, lets be honeat, it needed a better sex scene. It's Brad and Angelena for pete's sake

Also, how the hell do you leave Keith David on the cutting room floor? I don't give a damn why, that just is inexcusable

As I said though, these are all pretty minor issues though, it was really solid. I even liked the cliched "once we work together we can overcome anything" style end battle (mmmmm, cheese )

7 outta 10

(could have been an 7.5/8 if they keep Keith David in it ).

I saw this on Saturday and really liked it. It was definitely entertaining and a light summer movie. the action was really strong, but I wouldn't have minded a little more dialogue b/w Pitt and jolie.

I thought it was just above average. little or no plot and what there was was really daft.

worth watching for sure, but IMHO true lies was (in its day) a better film.

Whoever said there needed to be a main bad guy is right, that would have improved things! vince vaughans character was wasted.

Sure, go ahead and ask.

Watched it last night, pretty funny in the beginning and more action towards the end, with some cool sound-effects (demo-DVD material). Even though is not a great movie or one to remember it was entertaining and never boring.
