?????????best Zombie Film??????????

Right i know we've had many best threads. however seems like a good time to see what the best Zombie flkick is ever
Everyone knows what mine is DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978), quite simply out on it's own as the best ever, for everything, even it's rip at commercalism and the fact that, slow moving Zombies are worse (scary) then the fast running modern take (28 Days Later)Mmm
anyway come on boys and girls it'll be good to see your replies. By the way i do love all Zombie films
check out Demon and Demons by Dario Argento and Lamberto Bava, completley mad, fun and totally gory, i think you can get the 3 disc boxset for about £10, Play.com defo worth a look

28 Days Later doesn't feature zombies in the traditional sense as these aren't the dead returning but the alive being modified and as such can be enjoyed as a non-zombie film. *steps down from his horse on high*

Hi,

I'd probably agree that "Dawn Of The Dead" is the quintessential zombie movie, as well. I'm not sure if Fulci's "The Beyond" is a real zombie movie, but seeing as Craig has such good taste, I'll forgive him on that minor issue.

For me it has to be Zombi/Zombi2/Zombie Flesh Eaters or whatever the hell it's called

Brilliant atmospheric soundtrack, buckets of blood and that insane underwater scene still blows me away.

The first "Nasty" I ever saw as a kid as well so has a special place in my heart.

Definitely the one I can watch time and time again.

I’d go for Dawn of the Dead, but I’m going for the remake version – I just thought it was more fun!

Im gonna go for Dawn of the Dead(remake) and 28 Days Later. Shaun of the dead was cool also.

I prefer the pure muderous rage of the fast moving zombies above the slow moving ones.

The Beyond followed by Flesh Eaters, never really got into the Romero ones although they're ok.

1, Day and Dawn of the dead are my joint favs.
2, The Beyond and Zombi 2 come very close.
3, Also have a soft spot for Living dead at manchester morgue - First Nasty i saw as a kid and i loved it - always get a kick out of seeing zombies in the English countryside ripping apart British coppers.
4, Return of the living dead is also a hell of alot of fun.
5, Premutos lord of the living dead and Brain Dead - for some amazing OTT gore(eg Premutos has A tank vs zombies Awesome ) and laugh out loud moments.

Love Demons 1+2 great Lamberto Bava) movies with very good soundtrack.
Not really Zombie movies though. Pity Demons 3 aka Demon Cathedral was never properly made - it got turned into the rather dull The Church.
Of course there is the laughable Demons 3 The Ogre but that really is awful.

Suprised no one has mentioned Porno Holocaust (Joe D'amato)- Zombies and Porn a match made in heaven - well not really as theres only 1 zombie with a big one rampaging through a island - a good laugh but not a patch on the far better Erotic nights of the living dead(Joe again) - which does feature a load of Italian zombies plus Porn

I'll add my vote to Dawn of the Dead (the original). It is the quintessential zombie film, in my opinion. There are others that might be more fun, but DotD set the standard early.

there's not many film out there that hold the same consensus between critics and fans and thats Dawn of the Dead (1978) is by far and away the best of it's type

"The return of the living dead" and the "dawn of the dead" were both great.
"Shaun of the dead" was pretty good as well.
slow zombies are a bit naff, how could they ever catch anyone?

Evil dead is not zombies, possessed by evil spirits don't count, they could get better, zombies can't get better, they are dead.

Dont expect a great movie though - Its a good laugh but Erotic nights is far better They have both been released by Media Blasters in the States - Erotic Nights is on the Shriek Show label - R rated softcore version Or Unrated Hardcore version around £10 from Dvdpacific. P Holocaust is on the
Exploitation Digital label and is around £10 from Dvd pacific (look in the adult section)
They are also available on Euro dvds but the R1 Media blaster dvds are better quality and have more extras.

If you are after any other Zombie flicks i have loads and loads(Meat market 1+2, Stacy, Wild zero, Reanimators 1-3 , Bio zombie 1+2 , Black demons, Dead hate the living, Dead heat, Enter Zombie king, Flesh eater, Goregoyles, Tales from the hood etc etc.) - have a look at my dvd profiler collection Link in my sig.

NOTLD gets my vote as well. It's just creepy. Always loved Dawn, but those damm blue zombies.

Dawn of the dead remake was excellent. . Many hate 28 days later but speedy zombies (or whatever) are now here to stay.

i like speedy zombies. for one they're bloody scary, and also; once a zombie is 'born' it is an instincitve predator and living humans are the prey. In nature, a predator by design is normally either fast enough or cunning enough to catch it's prey. We all know they aren't very cunning, so speed is essential to their survival. I know there's the opposite argument, that the zombies would not physically be able to run fast because of the lack of blood flow in the heart and the rigor mortis and atrophied muscles, but i choose fast zombies any day

ps - blondie, i just found this for pre-order at dvdsoon, pretty cheap, thought you might fancy it, although the write-up here doesn't really encourage it...
