Hiya,

the FF series isn't too bad just pretty average.

Some other decent films and tv series I can think of are;

X TV Series (great sci-fi/action vv good!)
Beserk (violent action)
Hellsing (violent action)
Inu Yasha (adventure set in the past/present)
Ushio & Tora (boy & demon go arsekicking)
Tenchi Muyo (OAV not the endless spinoffs they produced)
El Hazard (odd sci-fi adventure about an alternate world)
Devilman (violent action)
Devil Lady TV series (Violent action)
Trigun (odd western styled sci-fi, great too)
Cyber City (sci-fi)
Genocyber (ultra violent sci-fi)
Project A-ko (errm parody of anime?)
Dominion Tank Police (action/comedy)
Dragon ball original series (adventure/comedy)

I love all of the above, if you can suggest a few titles that you enjoy I can suggest a few similar titles.

Sci fi channel a while back used to have some very decent manga on, haven't had access to it for a while now though so i'm not sure if thats still the situation.

No ones mentioned the film Gunbuster, which is very good.

Street Fighter 2 is probably up there with Akira as the best out there, although it'd stay away from the alpha pap (made a film and a seires).

All films contining Wolf the thief are good too (can't remember what they are called).

Also X (not samuri or anything else just 'X') is not very good at all in my estimation, just another one of the ultra violent with a vaugue plot and incest.

Tenshi is good, although they did a number of series and I belive the first two were just the same one redone from the start but fork off in different directions (they certainly had a very similar start and all the characters were re introduced).

Cow boy bebop is an impressive sereis as well, reminds me abit of firefly (which i didn't actualy like, go figure) very western bonty hunter in space but with good humour, especilay the ep were they have to eat loads of magic mushrooms so they don't get could with them.

Martion success nadesico (think thats how its spelt) is also entertaining.

Virgin has a quite impressive selection in its mega store although they are expensive usualy £20 each, but are sometimes included in the offers so are worth getting then.

Manga/Anime is a massive thing over there and I think spirited away was the biggest box office film ever there, so its very mainstream Japanese culture and as such there are lots of films for all the different audiance types. If you can think of a type of film then there is bound to be a manga that films the genre.

Well, since I last posted, I've watched:

Grave of Fireflies - Looks beautiful but it didn't grab me as a "good film".
Appleseed - Got the old version by accident ...stopped watching it half-way through...it sucked baddly!
Akira - Watched it today and thought it was amazing! Still prefer Spirited Away though.

I think I prefer the Fantasy stuff rather than Sci-Fi.

On another note, I saw this "Subliminal" in Akira today...presume it has been well reported but thought I'd post it anyway. The bottom right of the screen has a machine with a sign on it. The sign says "Do *****". (Sorry mods, not sure if this should be censored or not).

There is a legal Bittorrent site for Anime downloads - good way of sampling work.

I have sampled a few off there - worth D/L a few various episodes to try out.

Although not manga you can't beat a bit of cpt. Murphy in Sealab. If you like family guy it takes it to the next level, just remember "murcury is the tastiest of all the transision metals"

Indeed, but "Pudding can't fill the emptyness inside me ... but it will help!"

If you didn't know already:
http://www.tvtome.com/Sealab2021/

'April 27, 2005

Sealab 2021 is over

After 5 years and 52 episodes, Adult Swim and 7030 Productions have ended production on any future episode of Sealab 2021. This has been confirmed on the Adult Swim boards and even reinforced by Brett Bulter, voice of Quinn, confirming the show is over. The Bumper before the show began talking of the 13 new episodes was a joke and part of the Episode. '

Just done a search

As I said I am pretty sure this is a legal site - they remove Torrents for anything which gets licenced

http://a.scarywater.net

As above I am pretty sure it is a legal site and if it isn't sorry!

Gundam Seed Destiny seems quite good got 3 or 4 of those - at least 13 in the series but no DVDs at Play but there is of the original series.

Again if this ain't legal will a moderator remove the link

I'm sure that the sealab will return if dvd sales are good, only wish I could get them over here.

Also thanks for the link MartinImber, will check it out tonight, looking forward to getting into some more obscure japanese culture .

Joe, CD-wow have the complete box set on region 2, it's an amazing series.

http://www11.cd-wow.com/detail_resul...duct_code=4253 (£69 now, they used to have it for £55)

Play have it for £65
http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page...=57&g=72&pa=sr

They have also brought out platinum versions of each volume of Evangelion on region 1, I don't what the difference is but they might be the best ones to get.

End Of Evangelion is well worth getting too, but Death And Rebirth is not so good as it's just a lot of sections from the series.

I'm watching Rahxephon at the moment, seems similar to Evangelion, excellent so far and great animation.
