Region 1 Review: The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King - Extended Edition dts

Andrew Smith decides that The Lord Of The Ring trilogy is as good as anything done by Leonardo himself! And with audio this good, Jackson's The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King - Extended Edition may even surpass the old master's work!

I'm sorry but I have never heard the soundtrack on the "standard" release, and remember this is the region 1 release, I can't vouch for R2 - but the DTSES track through a suitable amp is nothing short of breathtaking.
And thanks for the compliment - it is nice to be appreciated

The audio's definitely something special. The bass in a few scenes (as the green light was emitted from Minas Morgul and during the charge of the mammoth things) was phenomenal - at a fairly sedate 80dB volume all the files I had on top of my BK sub promptly ended up on the floor Not that mind-numbing bass is that hard to come by these days but the whole thing is unsurpassed in my opinion.

I've got the R2 theatrical cut, and the R1 EE, to my ears the EE is much much better.
