Clerks 3

Kevin Smith says he is bowing out being a director / writer with his final film, Clerks 3 in 2014, going back to b/w style as the original 1994 movie.

I've mixed feelings about this. I'm thinking do we really need another Clerks but I'm also thinking I'd love to see Jay and Silent Bob again.

Never a big fan of Clerks 1 or 2 to be honest, but Jay & Silent Bob, now we're talking. Loved J&SBSB & Mallrats.

Rather have a J&SBSB2 OR Mallrats2.

His lack of progression in the last twenty years?

I mean, c'mon, I'm a big Smith fan but the guy hasn't really made a better film than Clerks even with a budget. I have a soft spot for most of the Askewniverse films, and even Jersey Girl, but Zack and Miri did nothing for me and Red State was crap. I really like his stand-up, so I hope he continues to do shows like that along with his writing and associated work. He's really talented, but it's almost like he let's his 'fat guy' persona limit his output. Honestly, there's pretty much a direct correlation between the shortcomings of his films and the stuff he talks about in his live shows. I respect him for that though, because at least he has the balls to talk about it.

I'd love to Smith allowed to make a comic book film, I think his live for it would shine through as long as the studios didnt getbit the way. Ill take Clerks 3 although I'd rather see a Jay and Silent BoB 2

I didn't really rate the first clerks but loved the second one. Jay and Silent Bob are tremendous though and highlights of the movies.

We'll see what the third one comes up with I suppose.

Kevin Smith has not been shy about his enthusiasm for Clerks III, and as he approaches the end of the scripting process his excitement hasn’t waned one bit. He talked up his new project on the Smodcast.

It’s been a ****ing blast — just such a good time. The Elias/Randal stuff is fantastic. I’m very very proud of it. I talked about, you know, when I threw out the photo of the cover. I said, ‘This is going to be my best film ever,’ and some people were like, ‘I bet you’re ****ing sorry you said that.’ I’m like, ‘No.’ I know the script, and again, so it’s like, even if you don’t agree, I said it, so I feel it, dick. [...] Having read it as I write it, I think it will be the best ’cause it really just encapsulates everything. There is a little piece of every movie I’ve ever made in this movie, and there’s, like, tie-ins and crossovers and nothing egregious — like, ‘Oh, there’s Chasing Amy’s Jason Lee,’ or something like that.

Smith confirmed in a recent Reddit AMA session that he was on page 95 of the screenplay, “about 25 pages” away from the end. “Dante. Randal. Jay. Silent Bob. They all return, naturally. Elias. Becky. They’re back as well. So is Veronica,” he wrote.

Casting hasn’t officially begun just yet, but when it does, Rosario Dawson (who played Becky in Clerks II) will be waiting by the phone.

He has not called me yet; I might start harassing him soon. I’ve already put it out there on Twitter-land because he Facebooked a photo of the script’s title page. I love him like crazy, I love “Clerks” and I want to see Becky’s baby and see what happens next. So put in a good word for me.
cant wait

Kevin Smith Says "Clerks III" Will Be His Best Film Ever

Quote:
Smith went as far as to say he would like to fund the whole thing himself.
"If I can get away with it, I'm gonna try to pay for CLERKS III myself," Smith said. "I started on my own dime, and if I'm allowed, I should finish on my own dime."

IT IS ACCOMPLISHED! CLERKS III, FIRST DRAFT!

At 137 pages, it plays like THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK of what's now become the Clerks Trilogy. And I am SO in love with it. Pictured is the script with the clapboard we used on the original CLERKS. Both the old clapboard and the old filmmaker are ready to go back to Jersey for the last time...
Mr Smith attached this to the photo
