Time And Again

Lionsgate has acquired feature film rights to Jack Finney's illustrated novel "Time and Again." Doug Liman is set to direct and produce.

"First published in 1970, the romantic time-travel tale follows Simon Morley, a Manhattan illustrator who enlists in a secret government experiment and is transported from the mid-20th century to 1882 New York, where he falls in love and finds himself forced to choose between his lives in the present and the past.Novel initially sold 27,000 copies in hardcover and went on to move more than 200,000 copies over the years. Finney, author of the fantasy classic "The Body Snatchers," wrote a sequel, "From Time to Time,"published in 1996, one year after his death."

Liman has directed Swingers, Go, Jumper, The Bourne Identity and Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Last romantic time traveller I remember was 'Somewhere In Time' (Jane Seymour & Christopher Reeve) with some excellent John Barry scored music.

Although Goldsmith was my favorite film composer I don't think any film composer wrote a more lovely poignant score than the one used at the end of the film. That and the last 5 minutes of the film gets me every time.

I am glad to see another time travel film in production, I just absolutely love that genre.

I think The Lake House was the last romantic TT film I watched, which I fairly enjoyed, though not a great film.

Trying to think of all the TT films in the romantic category that I have enjoyed, favoured in this order:

1. TIme after TIme (by far my favourite)
2. The Butterfly Effect
3. Source Code
4. The Girl who Leapt through TIme (Japanes anime)
5. Secret (Hong Kong film, with Jay Chou)
6. Somewhere in Time
7. The Lake House

I havent seen Time Traveller's Wife but I intend to at some point.

I loved The Lake House and I'd quite like to see the original. If you do see The Time Traveller's Wife you should read the much better book first.

I'll try as I'm actually a mod for a time travel book group, so I read as many time travel books novels as possible and this one is on my to read list. Only thing is, its quite low down as I prioritise on reading current month's group read and new authors novels. But I'll take your advise not to see the film before reading the book

I'm quite surprised it hasn't already come up as part of the group's reading.

The group started about 10 months ago, most people seem to have already read it, so is never high in the nominations each month

Ah I see. You should put it on your own list asap. Has the group read The Door Into Summerby Heinlein? That was a favourite of mine when I was a young un.

Thats currently got 4 votes for next month's read but The End of Eternity by Isaac Asimov is way ahead on 10 votes which tbh I also voted for. But most of these nominated books will eventually be read In case you wondering, this my book club group, tiny part of what I think is the best book site on the net.

Thanks Garratt, I've added it to our book group shelves and my own to read list Sounds like a fun read going by the synopsis (which I had to get from Goodreads, as your Amazon link seems to be missing it for some silly reason)

Cool

Ops my joke on Time after Time had already been metioned.

My favorite episode of the 60s The Outer Limits was The Man Who Never Was Born.

Part 1 here Im sure the others will be on after its sort of a sci fi fairy tale.

Just so you know, Garratt, we were actually on a running theme of Time Travel Romance

Thanks for the links though, I'm going to steal your links and add them in my time travel group threads, in which we discuss and list favourite TT films, games, short movies, and of course books

I remember seeing ages ago seeing this film at a local cinema that use to screen old films, I never seen it on TV.

As it says a romantic time travel film.

The House in the Square (1951)

I was looking up one with Tom Bell and Joan Collins that I thought was a Romantic Time Travel but think its more an alternate universe although I think the world he goes to is behind us as HUGE Near End SPOILER he finds the wo

man he loves in that universe is going to die but if he can get back to our universe in time he may be able to prevent
it.
Quest for Love (1971) - IMDb was wrote by John Wyndham

I sure like to see The House in the Square. It seems only available as part of a Tyrone Powell collection for around 」25 though and not available on Netflix or LF so I guess I'll have to buy it, if I want to be TT completist

Thanks again for these links
